Adding character to The Halo Project

Hello, everyone! It’s been a while since my last non-game update, and I’m excited to share how The Halo Project has been growing, thanks to each of you! We've welcomed many new testers, and I truly appreciate all the amazing support. You're an incredible community, and I couldn’t ask for more chill and fantastic supporters!

What's New?

As of the recent updates, you will notice that several Targets have been added that are introduced as X-Testers character. This post will explain how this works and what it means.

TL;DR:

• S-Testers can now suggest character designs through voting. Making tiers that are able to add character design to S-Testers and above. (S-Testers thru voting, X-Testers guaranteed, updatable character)

• Characters added through voting have less development time and cannot be updated.

• X-Testers can add one updatable character for the game’s lifetime.

• You can submit characters using a reference (X-Testers only) or a KK card (X and S-Testers).

• KK cards are the preferred method for adding characters.

• The more prepared the character (design, backstory, role, personality, name), the easier and faster it will be to integrate.

• Keep it simple—characters that require less development time will be added faster!

• I’m using your ideas to make more content!

What Are Tester Characters?

Tester Characters are designed based on the preferences of testers, depending on their tier. Here’s how it works:

X-Testers:

• Each X-Tester is allowed to add one character based on their design preference.

• To add a character, you must provide either a reference image or a KK card (KK cards are preferred).

• You can update this character throughout the lifetime of The Halo Project, even if you stop supporting as an X-Tester in the future. However, you are limited to one updatable character for life.

• You can suggest additional characters through Target Addition Vote.

S-Testers:

• S-Testers can now suggest characters through Target Addition Vote.

• This method allows you to introduce characters but without you cant update them later. *(I will still honor your suggestion if its not too difficult)

• Only KK cards will be accepted for these suggestions, as minimal development effort will be applied. Ideally, you should submit a fully developed character with backstory, personality, and design via KK card.

Can I Suggest More Than One Character?

If you’re an X-Tester and want to suggest additional characters, you can participate in the Target Addition Vote. These characters won’t be updatable, but I’ll still try to respect your suggestions where possible.

Can I Add Characters?

You can add character if you are S-Testers and above!

With the recent update, S-Testers can now suggest character designs through the Target Addition Vote. This is a low-effort method of adding characters, making it a great perk for S-Testers whom I think requires a significant buff.

Can I Add Any Character I Want?

Not exactly. There are some ground rules for character submissions:

• No characters that closely resemble existing works or real people (this isn’t a parody game).

• No male, futa, or furry characters (I'm not comfortable designing male characters and can’t guarantee the same quality or experience).

• No overly edgy or hostile designs (I reserve the right to refuse any design that I feel doesn’t fit the project’s tone. I’ll offer a refund in these cases).

• Characters shouldn’t take up too much development time, or they risk delaying regular updates.

How Quickly Will My Character Be Added?

This depends on my current workload. I try to add characters as soon as possible to keep things moving smoothly. How prepared your character is (backstory, role, personality) will also impact the speed of development. For reference, previous X-Testers saw their characters integrated in the very next update, thanks to their quick and detailed submissions.

What Can My Character Do?

In general, I recommend that your character’s role not be based on complex game mechanics. However, simple roles like vendors or tutors are doable.

You're Just Using Me to Make More Content!

Yes! This is for supporters who enjoy contributing their own design to a game they love while helping its development. Personally, I find it exciting to see my own character ideas come to life, and I want to offer you the same experience.

But What if I Want a Different Type of Character?

From the beginning, The Halo Project has been designed to be highly customizable. Once the game is fully complete, I plan to release a "lite" version that allows for easy customization and the addition of any kind of art style. At that point, you’ll be able to add the characters and stories you want, all while keeping the essence of The Halo Project intact! But that is in the far future.
