The Town of Crickfield
Added 2025-11-07 16:00:12 +0000 UTCHello! I have some really fun assets to share with you today.
I was doing some digging around in my old project folders this weekend, and I came across a huge document: one that I last opened in 2015... ten years ago! π±
I remember the game idea; it was a modern town for an Earthbound- or Pokemon- style project, and there was a whole collection of unique buildings.
These assets aren't helping anybody collecting dust in a old folder... and since this town never got made-- maybe your game world is the right home for them!

There's a LOT here, and even though these aren't quite up to our 2025 quality standard, I'd bet that these will be useful for some projects that use this style.
I spent the afternoon today trying to organize these into some sort of sheet that can be used. I fit them into a consistent grid, but the houses don't quite all line up perfectly: the doors and alignments are slightly different for individual houses, so I included the doors onto the sheet with the intent that you can separate them and however best fits your needs.
Note: these were clearly made for larger tiles than the 16x16 base size: I think this was for a 32x32 base size at the time, before I developed the modern styles. They should look pretty good despite that, if the style matches up-- the biggest conflict would be the size of the doorways.
Still the grid is set up to use 16x16 tiles, so it should be easy for you to rearrange these with grid-snapping on.
We can potentially rework these doorway/doors in the future and force these buildings to line up with the Omega Modern set. But for now, that'd be a much more complicated process to remaster these, so let me know if you think it'd be worth the time.
In the end I decided to simply align them all to the grid and release it as a master sheet which you're welcome to reorganize or pull from as you need.
I hope that these are useful for you!

Note: Because it's a working-file intended to be edited, this is a 100%. To export these for use in RPGMaker, export at 200% magnification scale for RMVX/Ace and 300% for RMMV/MZ. Use nearest neighbor to preserve pixel clarity.

This was a fun one!
The old file had some characters with cartoony Earthbound vibes too; funny NPCs. But they aren't organized or aligned for export and idk if they'd be worth it because they are in a different style that doesn't really match with other releases.

If there's interest from patrons I'll put some time into exporting them, but I'd note that it'd be a style clash for ongoing projects that use our artstyles. So let me know if you think that'd be worth it or not.

Anyways-- that's it for now.
I'll be back next week with something new from the request thread.
See you soon. Thanks!

I've been wondering about the resolution of other projects. Is the MV stuff normally drawn at a higher level of detail than the 100% scale or is it scaled up with no actual changes?

Some of the older character sprites you did are so ambitious, really amazing art though I believe most of them don't even have more than 1 direction.
