Serpent Path

As the raven took wing high above the main road, her keen eyes spotted an irregularity on a plateau high above the path.
Clever... she thought to herself. The enemy had concealed themselves behind the dense tree line and shrubs far above, near invisible from any traveler on the main road. This bodes poorly for my friends, but perhaps forewarning could change the course of this engagement.
As she circled above, she felt confident in her disguise. After all, who would suspect a simple raven in a forest? As such, she took her time examining every inch of their defenses, creating a plan of action. After several hours, she altered course, back up the main path.
When she reached the troop, she landed, and in a whirl of feathers and mist, emerged in her elven form once more. While some of the soldiers' expressions showed their disdain for her being present, the Captain approached, eager to hear her report.
"Captain, I bring word!" She called out with intent. "An ambush ahead, but they are expecting the main path. If we cut through the forest and approach from the back, we can tear through their rear line and clear the way for the main forces."
"Good work, Druid", his gratitude clear. "You may have saved many lives today."
