Emerald Cove Campground

Down the Emerald Channel awaits the Emerald Reprieve Station. Originally it was the foundation for a fringe territory scout tower, but the tower was never built.

Over the decades, a wondrous, yet somehow natural, occurrence happened. The visitors to the cove were welcomed by this after days travelling down the Emerald Channel with marsh and forest on either side.

One year in my travels down the Emerald Channel, I noticed a fire pit that had been stationed on the foundation. The luxury of a dry, enclosed place to strike up a fire to warm me through the night was an allure I couldn't resist.

I decided to brave a trip across the bridge into the woods, leaving my goods-laden dinghy behind. After a few short trips, I had enough fallen wood to build a simple bench. I felt a sense of contribution, knowing the simple improvement I had made would be enjoyed by others for years to come.

Years later, a trade contract required me to traverse the Emerald Channel once again. I looked forward to the campsite through the days as I got closer to the cove. To my amazement, when I arrived it had developed further, resembling a trade way station. Someone had included crates of supplies to repair river craft. Not particularly valuable, but something that could make or break a voyage.

With such a surge of community and popularity in the channel, I only wonder how long it would stay a secret from brigands and banditry. For now, it remains a beautiful creation between strangers.
