Love Lost in the Undercroft

“Towards the back of the temple, at a seemingly blank section of wall, you find the stone work doesn't quite line up. There's a faint breeze coming out of clear mortar joints and with a light press on the wall it swings silently open to reveal a dark interior with steps leading downwards.

A blissfully cool draft of air blows past you, it would be refreshing after the beating sun outside if it weren't for the rancid smell that came with it. You find it to be a short flight of stairs and it's not long before you're in an undercroft.

A large rectangular space that's been roughly hewn out of the rock with tall columns holding up the ceiling. Two of which lie in ruins on the floor. Candles flicker in golden candelabrums dotted down a central aisle, lighting the scene with their warm orange glow. 

Smashed open coffins and haphazardly placed benches face the remains of a statue to your left. It once standing proud in judgement over the dead, ensuring justice and balance in the afterlife, but now lies shattered across the floor. 

To your right a rude wooden wall divides the space in two with a small doorway in the centre. You can hear voices the other-side of it ... perhaps they have answers as to whats happened here. ”

Hey all,  

So this is the first time doing so many variations and pheeeew it took a bit of extra elbow grease but I got there in the end. A total of 12 different variations with over 70 assets. 

I wanted a map that could evolve with the party coming back to it. I envision a group of players first coming across the undercroft or crypt as the intact place of prayer and mourning for those lost. 

Only to come back to it at a later date to find it partially wrecked and taken over by those with nefarious intentions, perhaps someone experimenting with summoning. Or taking it another route it could be turned in to an underground fight club, where those seeking to settle their disagreements outside of the courts fight before the Goddess of judgement and balance.
