Cavern Waterfall - Map

So here we are, one finished isometric cavern map. My players certainly had a blast on it, here they came up against a pack of Gnolls who rained arrows down upon them from the top ledge whilst others rushed out from the stalagmites to face them in close combat.

The higher ground, dim light and fast flowing river provided the party a host of terrain obstacles to overcome in this encounter. A couple of them ended up in the river, one unconscious, and where quickly pulled along by the river towards the drop off the map and onwards in to the darkness. Thankfully saved by some quick thinking cleric work they defeated this pack of Gnolls before pressing deeper in to the caverns.

I thought I’d do a quick overdraw of the map to show you what I have behind the scenes in my notes.

A - main point of entry / exit

B - secondary entry / exit

C - these are hidden fissures and tunnels within the wall, discoverable on a higher perception or investigation check that can lead everywhere or nowhere

D - a fast flowing subterranean river that comes from and leads to who knows where

E - classic spot for the hidden chamber behind the waterfall

F - this underground flowing river can sweep unwary adventurers to their doom

G - this stack of boulders provide a handy route for the less athletic between levels - this wall is 20-25ft high.

Anyway, as always, let me know what you think - I’d really like to do more of these isometric maps. I have ideas for taverns, castles and dungeons, but if ya’ll prefer the 2d maps then I can focus on those instead.
