TRAINWRECKORDS: "Be Here Now" by Oasis

I watched soccer for eleven hours today and I'm very tired but I still finished the episode

Incidentally I discovered that Liam Gallagher also watched soccer all day while Noel did all the work recording the albums, according to Noel at least

Here's my request: Can you do Poison's Native Tongue? In 1993, it was the album that Poison changed their sound with Richie Kotzen's replacement for the then fired CC DeVille, abandoned their party tunes in favor of serious subjects, and with the arrival of Grunge with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden, their time was up; sales were poor, and I don't think they had another successful album after that.

Me too. That album was pure Oasis!

I like most of it. The last album sucked and the material written by Gem & Arches wasn't up to snuff... "Little James" somehow made it onto an album....

Let's just all pray he doesn't decide to do a cinemadonna spinoff on J-lo. (In all seriousness, I really liked most of the cinemadonna episodes)

Standing on the Shoulders of Giants was a really solid and great album. The next two (Heathen Chemistry and Don't Believe the Truth) Were also good, but the ONLY good song on them that wasn't written by Noel was "Songbird" which was Liam's best attempt at copying his brother. They lost too many original members though. They were never going to be "HUGE" again and if they weren't going to be huge it was a matter of time until Noel was going to ditch his obnoxious brother. Noel's solo band is also pretty solid if not "rock star" huge.

Do Music From the Elder by Kiss.

I actually do remember hearing "All Around the World" on the radio back when I was a kid.

I think the hate for Phantom Menace is way overblown, I think it still holds up. I hate that people ruined Jake Lloyd's over bullying him because of his role.

By the way, this may be my favorite episode of Trainwreckords yet so far!

Jacqueline Sailer

I think the problem with Trainwreckords requests is that because there are far fewer career-killing albums than bands/artists with only one hit, it's far more likely that Todd will get to the Trainwreckord on his own, as was going to be the case here. By contrast, we probably wouldn't have gotten that delightful Scatman John episode without the request system! That all said, Trainwreckords is definitely the series I'm most excited about right now, so I hope the rate of production isn't TOO hindered, even without any more requests. I still want to prioritize my OHW request, but maybe, Todd, you can take a short break in the middle of the requests to do another episode of Trainwreckords of purely your own decision?

Jacqueline Sailer

Ah, I had Trainwreckords requests as secondary and tertiary options in case Todd rejected my #1 choice, but based on this video, it looks like he'll definitely be doing my OHW suggestion!

Today dadada day dadadada day day day

I think "D'Ya Know What I Mean" is good.

Josh Liller

I absolutely did say that!

I know I stand alone on this, but I really, truly, loathe Oasis's music. I just can't stand Liam's voice. It's nails on a chalkboard to me. My only thought while watching this video was, "Why couldn't this have happened sooner?" So thanks for the vid - for all the suffering Oasis put me through in high school, I got a lot of schadenfreude from this.

I'll Think of a Clever Display Name Later

Woo hoo

Daniel Wilson

I remember an old tweet of Todd's that would suggest yes.

Joe G

I find it ironic that while Oasis released songs that are too long, their rivals Blur released songs at the same time that were too short. I'm looking at you, Song 2!

Gilbert Cortes

I'm in the minority and have always liked Oasis post Be Here Now. Really dug "Stop Dragging Your Heart Out," "Lyla," and "Falling Down." And if you want to hear a great long (and I mean long) Oasis song, track down the Amorphous Androgynous remix of "Falling Down." It's 22 minutes long and it's an amazing psych masterpiece.

James Eldred

I wonder if Evanescence's The Open Door would qualify for this show.

Matthew

Got this album from a co-worker off-loading his old CDs. Still haven't listened to it. Wasn't looking forward to when I do have to tackle it down the line, and this review confirms my trepidation.

Sykonee

Yeah. I still like the album.

Lol that ending. That's a nightmare. Thank you for braving all those layers of sound for us!

Deanna Banana

Rocked Reviews has already given it the Regretting The Past treatment, but I really want to hear Todd bash on Nu Metal some more

Kylie

I can't believe you didn't get more Trainwreckords requests! BTW, I love this series, I can't wait to see which flop album is going to be next!

Kylie

:) I absolutely adore Trainwreckords! They are my favorite video series of yours. My only nitpick is that this video didn't really go into what happened after the album came out, which is usually my favorite part. Still, a great video!

Monica Linnell

I thought you were gonna say "today, is gonna be the day", and i was disappointed

Amelie Marandet

I'm surprised you only got one Trainwreckords request. The second you announced the series, all I could think of was how badly I wanted you to do Results May Vary by Limp Bizkit.

Gordon Stearns

I was big into Oasis when I was in middle school/early high school but only picked up their first couple and the last album they ever released Dig Out Your Soul which was just ok. After hearing the samples in this episode I definitely don’t regret not buying this album. I can’t imagine how disappointed someone would have been paying full price for this in the height of the CD era, no surprise why Napster happened.

Jane Altoids

YES! I knew you'd have to cover Be Here Now eventually.

Patrick McMahon

"It's the sound of a bunch of guys, on coke, in the studio, not giving a fuck." Well that's refreshing honesty.

Jonathan P

"all around the world" sounds like a threat at this point

Saffron C

If you ever do a Trainwreckords for "Songs of Faith and Devotion" by Depeche Mode, you can pretty much reuse everything before the title. (As a side note, I would have requested that album had I hated you given your stated feelings towards Depeche Mode.)

Michael Russell

The sad thing is that when I was little, I only knew 3 Oasis songs. Wonderwall, Stand By Me, and All Around the World.

Christie Lewis

Todd, I know you haven't been doing song reviews as much now, but I just want to say, I'm starting to love your other series so much more than your song reviews, just cause you can really tell how much you enjoying yourself.

God bless. Oasis was only good for a short while. Overhyped, too.

Blair (Rinzler)

Todd no, please don’t hurt my babies.

Sean Pirecki

DAT INTRO, HELL YEAH.
