NEW VIDEO UP: The Weird World of Theatre Bootlegs

I'll listen to the podcast lol, the pressure is real! :O I really appreciate this video. There's an ocean between me and broadway, so the only way I'd get to watch most broadway or other american shows is as a recording anyway, which I'd happily pay for if I could. When the shows do get made in europe it's usually like london, maybe even oslo if they're feeling adventurous, but still a plane ticket away. It's a lot easier to "just watch it live" when you live next door to the theater, or can buy plane tickets as if they were avocado toast. I did see the nutcracker at a local theater a while ago and remember noticing the camera setup they had, hoping that meant I could buy the recording afterwards, but I never found it anywhere. I wonder what they actually do with the recordings? Is it just to make advertising?

While I enjoyed the video, I have to take exception to your characterization of traders. While there are traders who are primarily focused on money, a majority of the traders I've spoken with are more concerned with the legal troubles the Masters will get into if they are found out. While I am not a trader myself, I have found that most of the traders I've come in contact with would have been happy to share what they had as long as you promise not to spread it too far. (an incident involving a bunch of people trying to get as many boots as possible and posting them in the wild have them a bit more cautious now, because they were focused on getting recent videos that haven't passed the benchmark for free trading). In short, while a handful of traders are as you expressed in the video, a majority (that I've spoken to) are willing to spread the love... once it passes the trade date and the masters aren't in danger of getting caught anymore.

Great video as always! I had no idea there were so many bootlegs available. I pretty much only know the plays that have official recordings or have been made into films, which makes me a pretty terrible musical theatre fan. I haven't even listened to the Hamilton soundtrack 'cause it didn't seem worth it without seeing the play and understanding the context of everything. More official recordings pls and thank you!!
