I hit my patreon goal!!

Thanks to everyone so much for supporting me, it means the world and I can't believe I get to do this professionally lol.

Anyway, this means I'm gonna make a video based on your suggestions! If you want to, link me a youtube video or picture or article you find interesting, odd, funny, etc. and I'll check it out. I'll probably stream the  links you leave on Patreon, and then try to make a video where I talk about your suggestions. I'm excited, it'll be a weird video.

hello yes im very very late but here is a suggestion from me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5q77MQzU2Q

KolbrΓΊn MatthΓasdΓ³ttir

I know this is SUPER late but I recently rewatched the first Austin Powers and I REALLY can't help but feel a full on deep dive would be fitting considering it's generational commentary.

I'd love to see a video which very generally examines the relationship between literature/poetry/film (which seems to be your most familiar space) and Some Other Artistic Space (I would argue for Music as a music bitch but any other genre, e.g. painting, game design, architecture etc. would be v interesting.) It could perhaps even be a video of you learning the basics of the new field with an expert (collab potential there πŸ‘€) then linking it to a more familiar field however you wish.

enby ennui

Hope I’m not too late but I’d love to see why you think about r/relationships, both on reddit and twitter.

Can you do a video on the show The Boys?

floofpants

I just discovered that the show Girl Meets World did an episode titled "Girl Meets Commonism" it ooooh boy it's a lot. I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Have you seen Soul yet??? It seems to delve into some philosophical ideas but its hard to say if they made any sense. Would love to hear your thoughts>:)

Tom Bodkin

How about doing a video Inside Out? You've done a few videos on bad pop psychology, so how about a movie that's actually pretty good on that front? Or maybe you think it's wrong about stuff, or maybe you'd rather mostly do a video on Soul and use Inside Out for contrast. Do whatever you like!

Got nothing interesting to say atm, just that I'm happy to be a Patron (ooh, how Renaissance of me) and that I'm also glad to make a contribution, however small, to your living wage. You deserve a lot more subscribers on the YouTubes, my guy. Your content is fascinating.

Somebody already mentioned Bo Burnham as an example of celebrities struggling with the hypocritical implications of their fame but this video has always really really interested me on that topic. I find it so strange that Burnham was asked to sing this here because it becomes clear so quickly that this is not really a joke to him. It's one thing for him to release "Art is Dead" and another to perform it on the Green Room. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le0vB1TgOjw

this absolutely unhinged clickhole video is pretty fun tbh https://youtu.be/yEFFHLRSOcc or this Clickhole vid, equally unhinged, about Gatorade https://youtu.be/rQZK858Xuag each vid is approx 3mins long

Hey Joel, I already made a suggestion but you should def read some random SCPs and give your thoughts on them. I’m sure that would be fun... I’m sure... I’m sure

Sports. I've never heard you refer to sports, so I think it could be challenging for you. Last season the NBA was one of the first organizations to shut down because of covid. FOr many Westerners, that's when they knew that Covid was getting real. Also last season had Black Lives Matter written on the courts, and players replaced the names on their jerseys with messages of justice.

ANYTHING about game of thrones!!!

Talk about this primo youutube vid from connor o'malley

Could you talk about drag race?

Alastair Bowyer

I agree with previous comments. Would love to hear you speak to some of your favourite movies. Also, not sure if there is anything interesting here, but maybe discussing rise of popular youtube stars like Bo Burnham who became conflicted with their success and the changing culture of youtube.

I know youve been makin twitter jokes abt it and idk if you've discussed it on streams before. also dk if ur worried this will start beef. but been wondering your serious thoughts on Classically Abby and what her channel ""means"" or ""does"" etc. Hard to pick a specific video (there are so many one could look at) so I'll pick a random recent one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrPlYoz4XCU

I'd also like to see a video of you stanning the hell out of your favorite movies or tv shows and music or YouTubers. For something uplifting

Paul Bird

Talk about how and why conservatives feel oppressed. Be sure to talk about the phrase "conservative is the new punk rock" And congratulations! Proud of you boo

Paul Bird

This very weird commercial for some sort of private crime tip line? https://youtu.be/7BWy-WX2Pw8

Joe Wise

Make a video about Parler

I remember that a while ago on stream you talked about the phenomenon of rural conservatism, and how these people often are not held accountable for their harmful beliefs, and often they just get explained by calling rural folk stupid or uneducated without any substantive analysis. I grew up in a rural town and chimed in a bit. I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on that.

I'd love for you to take a look at Boat Angel-youtube channel. More specifically The Donkey Ollie series. It's super weird.

The gummibΓ€r brand is still going strong somehow, there's a tv show and a youtube channel where they rake in millions of views of slight edits of their song and that's super funny to me for se reason. https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC3pjAjCN1A_ZSzoIdCFgy7g

I'd like to see something about Paul Joseoh Watson ^^

There's this crazy short film by Zia Anger called "My Last Film" that's like this brilliant (in my opinion) mess of ideas and intentional so-bad-it's-good ideas... I won't say too much, actually. Would love to hear you talk about it :) https://vimeo.com/201699985

I'd like to know your thoughts on The Egg by Andy Weir. Kurzgesagt made an animation out of it in case you haven't seen it. https://youtu.be/h6fcK_fRYaI

I'd be curious to see if you would make a video on Onision, like in the style of your "Existential horror" genre, provided ofc that you'd actually find something fascinating about him. I used to kind of be a fan like 6 years ago when he was still somewhat more sane and less of an asshole to girls and women, and produced content that I found pretty funny.

Hey Joel! I'd love to hear your thoughts/deep dive on the "I am not your friend" discussion on parasocial relationships with youtube and twitch stars. Especially right now being locked down, I find myself and my friends falling into parasocial relationships more than ever. I even feel a "one-sided friendship" with you, even though I know logically that you do not know me at all. A good summary video is here: https://youtu.be/WzyQbfh4t_8 This is the YT documentary referenced: https://youtu.be/wP5ysTqEj7I This is the other video referenced. For context, this is a side channel where he gives advice to viewers: https://youtu.be/lhbiP0eqjqQ

One suggestion from my wife: the commercials which came out around March April time where companies tried to use covid 19 as a sales point ie cars. There were a lot of them and they were weird

Hey Joel! I found this woman’s blog through a YouTube comment she made on a clip of Children of Men in which she claimed to be the true director of the film. I was interested so I checked out her blog. Her writing style is, unique, to say the least, and she seems to have a rich personal lore. I linked a random blog post of hers that seemed pretty interesting, but she’s got a ton more. Might find something fun in there. https://ginamariainfo.blogspot.com/2020/01/inigo-was-telling-me-earlier-today-when.html?m=1

To clarify, I thought it’d be fun if your suggestions were readily available online and on the shorter side, so that I could get through everything and make it like a fun grab bag video

Big Joel

Hello. Could you do something on Dr Snuggles (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Snuggles)? It's a really odd Dutch/British children's cartoon from the late 70's.

Philip Woolley

i know this is not a link but what would i link to??

I would really love it if you made another video about reality TV you talked about it for one moment in your trash video but I think you got some more opinions
