Hand Dyed 1920’s Pink Pongee Silk Dressing Gown

This incredible dressing gown found me a few years back and took my breath away.

I adore pongee silk, especially vintage pongee. I’ve been staying away from newly made silks but do still purchase used and vintage silk. Pongee silk is soft but has a slubbed appearance. Pongee fabric can be made from many different fibers and have shiny or matte textures but I’m specifically referring to vintage silk pongee. My favorite.

Normally, when we think of Vintage Textiles and clothes, we think of some thing that is a bit less comfy, more tight fitting, possibly we might think of a scratchy wool, stiff denim or something along those lines but not the case for pongee silk! This textile is extremely wearable due to its light weight and airy texture and is easy to drape keeping me cool, dry and stylish.
