First practice with costume music and fans

This is 💯 improvised and unpolished so bare with me, but I like how the music flows with the costume and fans. I’m going to keep going in this direction and see where it leads me. It took me about four years total between collecting peacock feathers that were either vintage or humanly harvested mostly by myself on farms that had peacocks. Every time we pick a farm that has peacocks i spend most of my time picking up peacock feathers off of the ground. I’m thankful to my job that it puts me in the right places at the right times. I was able to grab another box of peacock feathers from a retired farmer in the area who happens to have a few peacocks on his property. I love walking around and picking up the peacock feathers on a farm. It reminds me of being a kid and picking up chicken, chicken feathers and turkey feathers in the country and the scenery is incredible! The ostrich feather Catherine D’lish is a classic staple in any Burlesque performers closet. I’m really enjoying this soft smoky lavender theme this year, so I’m sticking with it. I handmade the bra and panties and the corset was purchased as a basic corset, I did all of the embellishments myself. The dress was my dress I wore on my wedding night. I wore it for the reception and Jeremy and I both agreed that this one needs to be on stage so I feel like this is the perfect to put her on stage and see how long she lasts. I’ve already had to make a couple repairs in this dress and there’s another repair at the top of the slit in the back that needs to be made, but I think she’s gonna hold up pretty well. i’m really trying to use what I have and not make Burlesque about how much everything costs and how new things are but instead make it about how well I can design my costumes myself. I have a bit more time on my hands these days so that’s how I’ve been using it. Endless sewing, crystalling and fanmaking. I feel much more connected to my costumes which means I feel much more connected to the whole experience and I like that. I also love having phenomenal costumers Make my costumes because I wear them with so much pride, but there’s something special about knowing all of the ins and outs of my costume Because I’ve put everything together myself. I’ve definitely arrived at a point in my life where I’ve learned how to become Comfortably Numb with my TN diagnosis and feel like this beginning song is definitely about my life struggle with pain and the second song “Eye in the sky” by Alan Parsons Project is about me being able to trust myself. I need to stop taking everybody else’s word for it and trust my gut, trust myself. so I feel like this is a good combination for where I’m at in life right now learning to find comfort even if at times that comfort is numbness and learning to trust my own voice, my own thoughts, my own sensations and know that they’re not gonna be like everybody else’s and that’s OK.

Beautiful work done on this costume. Quality shines thru. Keep trusting yourself....who knows you better than the reflection in the mirror. Definitely get this to a stage somewhere. As an added note...I love the "bare" with me spelling. Love your quick wit lady!! 😉😅🥰
