Dannie Diesel presents The Lilac Fans

What a phenomenal evening with a phenomenal cast! Every time I visit House of blues, Chicago, foundation, room, house of burlesque, it’s one hell of a party! I left my house with Jeremy at about noon, grab some food on the road. Generally, I don’t eat much before a show, I still do get nerves. we landed in Chicago around three or so and stayed with us my dear friend, Chantel. It was so wonderful to spend time with her. We needed it! Unfortunately, Chantel could not come to the show because Devo was in town and I fully support her choice to go see Devo, however, I missed her so much! We ordered some dinner toward her new house had a chat, and then I started to get ready for my show as she started to get ready for Devo. We got ready together so it was fun. I spent some time putting a few stitches in my costume before Jeremy and I went to House of blues. Insert textbook, Chicago Uber scenario, an hour later we were at the house of blues. I got there in about 7 PM and walked into the green room and saw Sio resting on the couch. We got to have a little bit of time together, and that was so wonderful! I always love working with her. Cute little Kiki, regrouped from our travel and day, and eventually the rest of this incredible cast entered one by one, filling up the green room in the most beautiful way. you know you’re with people you love when you’re in a tiny green room on top of each other and you’re loving every minute of it. These are the things I dream about. I still dream about being on stage, but more than anything being backstage with those I love. with those folks that you are so in tune with that these moments together are pure celebration. One of the things I have always loved about House of blues is that all of us performers can peek through the staircase and watch our friends performing. We can get an idea for who’s fun in the audience, who’s throwing the most money, whose giving the most entertainment value, the folks that are always there to support versus folks that are just now finding their love of burlesque. So many different personalities within one audience, and somehow everybody comes together on the same vibe to celebrate these incredible moments. I really is magic! my beautiful burlesque daughter, Hot Tawdry, the producer of this show, gave me the most wonderful, warm welcome. She always warms my heart and makes me feel seen and loved and I’m so lucky to have her in my life. Lucky to have all these folks in my life! lucky to have all of you in my life and have your support so that I can continue to create. Anyhow, the night and beautifully, we stayed up and partied and ate good food and drink. Cocktails until about three or 4 AM, grabbed a couple hours of sleep, got on the road and came back to our small little town in the Quad cities. Jeremy and I both lay down in bed after a hot bath at 4pm and did not wake up until the next morning. Here is the product of our ridiculousness. Enjoy!
