I'm still on the road.
Chicago was amazing. Haley's wedding was absolutely beautiful, even thought I was sick as a dog. I'm so happy I got to go and see this next chapter of her life beginning. If I know Haley like I know I do, she and her husband are in for a lifetime of laughter and love and I can't wait to watch them journey through it together. π
I'm really missing my home. I've been away for so long. Being away makes me feel disconnected, and especially with everything going on there right now. I have to keep reminding myself that there is a limited amount that I can do from so far away. Jeremy is there now doing whatever he can to help those who need it. It's one of the reasons I love him. His willingness to go out and help anyone who needs it is the example of humanity we all need and should aspire to.
I found this video he took of me in our yard a little while ago when the avocados were ripe. I grew up with a mom with a green thumb. My mamma can grow anything. I've seen her take sick and dying plants home from the local grocery store and bring them back to vitality in a week. I definitely got my love of gardening from her. There is something very radically free about being able to grow your own food, relying on your little piece of this earth to support you and care for your. It's liberating to feel the needs of your body being fulfilled by your immediate surroundings. I want fresh eggs for breakfast? I can go visit my girls in the yard, gather a few, thank them for their work, and satiate my hunger. These are the things that make me feel successful and I miss it.
