The endless grind is so idealized in America. If you don't have a hustle mentality, or portray enough hustle you're viewed as lazy. Sometimes that means working two or three jobs to live a moderately comfortable life. Having raised two children on my own, often on minimum wage, the hustle mentality seated deep in my psyche. I've been a go, go, go person for so very long. At various points in my life I've worked myself sick, even ended up in the hospital. That is no way to live. As important as it is to make sure we are well cared for and our families have what they need, it's equally as important to stop, too. Take the time to unplug, recharge, and reset. You're of no use to anyone if you've worked yourself into an early grave. Even now that I'm not working a traditional job, I work no less than when I did. At times I work more, way more, than I did before. If I don't take a pause and force myself to relax, then I just won't. Some people have a hard time remembering to drink enough water, eat their vegetables, or take their vitamins. I have to remember to rest.
Whatβs your favorite form of relaxation?
