Being a woman of larger build, vintage lingerie was never really in the cards for me under normal circumstances. Occasionally I would find a beautiful piece here and there but for a variety of reasons, all stemming from the ideation of a smaller size frame, it was difficult, to say the least, to find plus-size vintage lingerie.
My dear friend Tiffany is kind enough to keep me in mind for larger size picks.
She put me on to this incredibly rare vintage 1940’s black lace fig leaf appliqué Eve's Leaves nightgown by Chevette. It is a gorgeous, black sheer, cobweb lace fabric gown with a midnight black floral pattern and inky black silk fig leaf appliqué, complete with detailed veined stitching.
This is a risqué novelty lingerie item that women would swoon over. The "Eve's Leaves by Chevette" label has been removed however the maker's mark is obvious in the detail. How incredible to own something this rare in my size.
I was elated to find such a beautiful representation of WWII novelty lingerie.
You can pretty much set your price on these rare pieces of lingerie history in larger sizes, like this one in a size US 10. For small sizes I’ve seen them priced around $400-600.
I won’t reveal what I spent on this one but Tiffany was kind to me on the price.
Thank you Madison Hurley for the beautiful photo set.
