Stripping History; The journey of one little costume

My baby Grrrl Memphis in the mountains of Puerto Rico, modeling a burlesque set I handed down to her a while back. I wore this set so many years ago. I remember flying in @themaineattractionanders and my sister @mollytov1 was there hosting. I was performing with @sodagardocki and it was sooooo damn hot!!!!! I remember my friend Alison “Miss Motoblot” was still so alive and vibrant.

That show Sean was still alive also.

I accidentally left my costume in the green room that night and racked my brain to think of where I could have left it. A few months passed and Sean called me up to feature in another show for him and I gladly accepted.

He always paid fairly, treated us really well, made us feel safe and special. I loved working at @cobralounge with him and the crew. That evening I went to have a drink with him. I felt the need to be near him. @jscheuch was there I’d course as they were best buddies. Sean was best buddies with everyone man...

anyhow, I’m not social so I rarely stay out long after a show but that night Sean walks into the bar with my costume, this costume! He was like, “I can’t believe it was here the whole time in my office” we laughed. We drank. My friend @courtney_hansen and talked and had a great time. It was a perfect night.

That was the last time I ever saw Sean.

Sadly he left this reality but I know we will see him again.

I see him every time I see this costume. I figure @lolahbearxo is the perfect home for this costume now. Sean always brought good things. I hope someday she is able to put this costume back on stage at @cobralounge as a nod to Sean and his supportive role in the Chicago punk rock and performance arts community. In fact @lolahbearxo is a pretty good musician as well. She played @cobralounge with Scool of Rock often. So Sean has supported 2 generations of Colby’s.
