Road dog diaries the flight

It really wasn’t too bad to be honest. The drive to San Juan from Rincon was calm and it’s early in the morning so there was very little traffic.

I’m always pretty cranky in the morning so Jeremy took very good care of me and made sure I had everything that I needed so that was a simple trip. He is the best at that! He does it at home and Haley doesn’t while I’m on the road. I have the best of both worlds.

I got to the airport, there’s always a porter waiting outside to help with luggage so that made it easy, I was standing in line at TSA and somebody happened to just come over and open up another line right in front of me so that was kind of magical, cut my wait time in TSA in half and of course my luggage was checked by TSA, it always is. I always have some weird stuff in my carry on, usually antiques that make them think twice😂

But the TSA in San Juan is always wonderful and very helpful, everything went well, the flights included. I had a 4 1/2 hour flight from San Juan to Houston Texas. Upon landing I had to run not walk, run across the entire airport, grab a shuttle, find my way to B88, made it just in time to sit and organize myself for a few moments before I boarded my second flight to Memphis. I was seated in 4a, it was nice, nobody next to me, I could stretch out just a little bit. But then I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. I saw smoke billowing from the ground. It was a funky looking yellowish smoke so I knew it wasn’t clouds, and then I saw another one, and another, and another! I’m not sure what this was? Somebody said it might be burning the rice fields? But it was crazy there were about eight large fires on the ground. Has anyone ever heard of this? I know there’s a slash and burn method of agriculture but I’ve never seen it from above. Here are some of the photos I took of it. I’m so curious to find out what it was…

Anyhow, the flight landed just fine, it was really wonderful to see Haley, she was waiting at baggage claim for me. We drove to the hotel, smoked a bowl, drank a little bit of whiskey, had a great dinner in my room at the Peabody and enjoyed a beautiful night.

It was beautiful and it was luxury and it was paid for by my production team and I’m always so thankful when they do nice things for me like putting me up in this hotel and giving me this fun little experience in Memphis. I think they know how important memphis is to me. I was married to Memphis’s father here at Graceland by an Elvis impersonator. Memphis has a very special place in my heart and always well. That’s why my daughters name is Memphis Grace💗

Today I was able to have a really great lengthy meeting with Haley about some future plans that we have been putting off for a while because of Covid. We’re not doing that anymore! I’m excited to say that we are moving forward with really special production that I can’t wait to tell you more about. We decided that the show must go on and we intend to bring you as much rich history as possible with this new production. But that’s about all I can say about it for right now. This is just a secret between us. Until then I am going to enjoy my time out here on the road with my boys and with Haley and I’m so excited to say that the production crew invited Jeremy, my fiancé out on the road for our anniversary on February 14. I thought it was real sweet of them to think of us and invite him to come out to spend this time together. So I’m still working for our anniversary but at least I get to see him for almost one week of my time out here on the road!

As I’m laying here in the bath I realize I only have a couple hours left in this hotel room. I probably better get out of the bathtub, do some yoga, pack up my shit and get ready to head to the next hotel, probably won’t be anywhere near as nice but as long as there’s a comfy bed and a hot bath, I’m there!

I’m excited to see what the next two weeks brings for pics, we are out here in Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi call so we should find some really good vintage. I will keep you updated But if you were out here right now, what would you be looking for on the road?

Hi. Me again. My dad’s instrument was an Estey Chaplains Traveling Folding Portable Pump Reed Organ. It was rare and special for me! I’m not looking for another-just sharing!

Americana...my dad once had a very old pump pedal manual organ. It’s the only one I’ve ever seen anywhere. TV, etc. He rarely set it up, but it was special when he did. The sounds it made! Our family sold it in our estate sale. 2014 I think. Carroll County, Arkansas. Thanks for the memory!

I would think that’s a lot of smoke for agricultural burning? I don’t know. Stay safe say hi to your sister for me! I follow her n Instagram but haven’t talked to her or seen her in a while.

I would look for antique dolls, glass items, antique clothing, and I wouldn’t mind coming across a microphone shaped radio again like the one I found a year ago for ten dollars that works yet. It’s also fun finding antique jewelry for cheap as well

LaVon Eliason

I have three books in my collection that I paid $500, $450, and $400 for respectively, I doubt they'd fetch anything near that if I ever decided to get rid of them.

I once found a book by patience worth. I ended up donating it to a paranormal team for hurricane relief fundraiser for hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. I can’t remember exactly what it went for but I think it was around six or $700. But I still miss it! I wish I had never let it go, it’s so rare to come across one of her books. I love keeping my eye out for cool old books.

Books. I’m always looking for books. 🤓 But, to be honest, I’d just have to see what “calls” to me.
