Here are two beautiful representations of Lili St Cyr’s I’m not positive but I think I also have the round sequin pasties (at the $2.89 price point). The ones you’re seeing in front of you are the red and silver 2 toned swirl sequin pasties (that cost $3.50 in 1958) and the star sequin pasties (that cost $3.98 in 1958) you can see the silver stars and the two-tone red and silver Colors vividly. These pasty’s are in excellent condition. They read “Handmade for Lili St Cyr” on the inside. I purchased them a few years ago and never intended on selling them. However, with the state of the world and this pandemic many performers had lost their jobs and needed a little extra cash here and there. I sold the red and silver two toned pair for $1800 and donated all of that money to performers in need. I strongly believe that’s what Lili would have wanted. As we all know she went through some difficult struggles in her life.
I still have the silver stars and have no desire to sell those and I have a pair of silver round sequin pasties as well, the stars and swirls definitely were custom made for Lili St Cyr while the round ones I believe were general dead stock.
I’ve become really fond of collecting pasties because they’re fairly inexpensive normally and it’s a good way to start collecting Burlesque items from the past. Low price point, no heavy lifting, easy to move, easy to store, fits all sizes. As soon as I have an opportunity to locate the round silver dead stock pasties I will post them as well.
This 1958 lingerie catalog is an excellent reference guide for vintage dealers and Pickers of Vintage Burlesque and lingerie. I hope it proves to be a valuable resource for somebody. I know it has been for me!
