So if Shoe fetishism is being attracted to certain types of footwear it would only make sense that the footwear market would lean into consumer consumption for financial gain, right? A fetish Shoe is a Shoe specifically designed to incite erotic feelings in certain consumers.

Some fetish shoes are unrealistically high, like these “Alaia” shoes with an extremely high lucite heel and bound look.

Foot binding was popular in China until the early 1900’s and is still practiced today on a small scale around the world for fetish culture. Girls were very young when they started the process of foot binding (usually not if their own free will) As archaic as this custom sounds, only the most beautiful and elite were chosen. It originally was thought to have seductive properties such as an altered walk that accentuated certain muscles in the thighs and more erogenous zones. Eventually the wealthy, elite popularized it and it became a mark of social status. Thus, ushering in the era of these ridiculously expensive, dangerously high heels that I can only really stand, sit or fuck in. 🎉
