After being called away unexpectedly when I was last working on my fibreglass project cruiser, Twiggy, I was able to return a couple of weeks later to continue shaping the second chunk of wood that will make up the new transom core.

Yes, in effect you drill it a bit bigger than needed, then line the edges of the hole with thickened resin, making the hole part of the structure. That's the theory!!

One thing bothers me about that spill well drain hole... if you drill through both faces of the glassfibre through the plywood, how do you seal the edges of the hole youβve drilled to stop the drain water just filling up the transom void and rotting the nice new plywood? Could you put a fibreglass tube through the hole and seal it both sides with resin?
