Yes, and one that I recognized was Charlotte whose full name is Charlotte Staples Lewis...or "C.S. Lewis" (not sure if he is considered a philosopher, but he was a Christian scholar and author of The Chronicles of Narnia books).

We saw her in the Tunisian desert where they had uncovered the bones of a polar bear and a bear collar with a Dharma logo. Weird...

2025-08-18 03:24:28 +0000 UTCDanielle Rousseau is named after the French/Swiss philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Desmond Hume is named after the Scottish philosopher David Hume, Mikhail Bakunin (the eye patch guy) is named after the Russian revolutionary and philosopher Mikhail Bakunin, and as mentioned, John Locke is named after the English philosopher John Locke. These are the four that I recognized myself, but apparently there are a lot more philosopher name references in the show that I didn't notice.
