But at ch62 her consciousness went blank while devouring - so how could skill kept working? Either skill turned off after devouring ~100% of overall exp and the goddesses heal helped or skill becomes less effective in percentage. The reason why I stick to my point of view is that she was knocked out for 3 days back then and for 2 days after dungeon fight. And she got less than 100% exp second time. I’ve got to redo the math to be precise but it was something around 55% when I wrote comment (if I’m not wrong too) I’m absolutely okay with writing. Moreover, there was no big mistake in math and the numbers didn’t go above the sky. If my comment somehow helps author with numbers - i cannot be happy more than that

2025-03-08 11:49:17 +0000 UTCIn chapter 62 (after a fight with Soul Devourer) Aaliyah got 5775835 exp (5.7 mil) and got 8 levels which equals 1-63 lvls of exp. which means almost 100% of overall exp. I personally prefer system with 50% just to not become overpowered. Maybe it will be less effective on later stages as a skill (as it was in notification about changing exp system at the beggining like 100% 0-75 lvl, 50% 76-125 e.t.c) but not as a human ability to take exp from slaying monsters Or maybe it was just a doing from a Goddesses, while they were healing her soul Just wanted to say this while reread

Woops we accidentally killed this lesser dragon since it wouldn't leave us alone who would've guess it gave so many levels? Plus it isn't even a lie the trip and lesser dragon are the reason they level so fast so skills can't disagree with it.

So I'm not as worried at the idea of drawbacks stunting her growth from gaining massive combat exp. Also if you use the contract example then she would be more prone to gaining skills related to the exp from whomever she devoured it from. That isn't an issue either considering it would be skills from high level classers from an ancient civilization and a lesser dragon she's pulling from.

Aaliyah's family and freinds really make it more fun than a lot of Royal Road's power fantasies - a reborn protagonist having loving parents that are their own characters is nice. I can't wait until they meet up with Pacore again, he was so fun when he first spotted Aaliyah. I can't imagine how he'll have to think about both her and Tabitha.

The main reason is that when she devour exp from remains of the monsters she heard the voice telling her to continue this process which she coped with. But when she fought remnants - it got out of control. So there is similar penalty - when the amount of the exp will be out of control , FE when she kills 400lv dragon, she can loose her mind and try to tear her own soul apart transfering exp

2025-02-19 02:48:02 +0000 UTCThe tier difference increases greatly just between 3 to 4 and they haven't even seen tier 5 yet let alone 6, she probably need even more strength to touch tier 5 yet. Though her other stats are lacking they aren't as vital right now as they are still in a dangerous area and she can increase those slightly with time. Free stats point are easier to gain when then number is lower if you inject level stats points into it, that will just make it harder to gain free Stat points so you might as well milk those lower stats for as many free Stat point. This is my thoughts on it.

And indeed that will probably be his first reaction, a very funny what the fuck is this reality o.o. But then...questions. And I think Aaliyah will try to bullshit because she absolutely don't want to talk about her tier 6 skills. And I say try because you can't justify this much craziness. Also she's way too young to fool Pacore xD. And I think Pacore is clever enough to suspect something. He'll know it's not from Tabitha. So...how did Aaliyah gained so many level this fast ? Did it have something to do with Tabitha's unprecedented growth ? And the kicker: people in Schöll know the curve of Tabitha's growth too. Pacore isn't the only one who will wonder. And he probably won't be the only one to make the link with his shiny new monstrously prodigious student. That kind of attention is scary and Dangerous. So Aaliyah...don't you want Pacore in your corner defending you from all the vultur that this kind of rumors will bring? He's her best ally and protector in Scholl. He has political clout and Aaliyah will need that. So...even if she absolutely don't want to explain herself, maybe she should. Because she's going in blind there and she just put a huge target on her back. So maybe she should trust Pacore because he's going to have to défend her big time. Obviously she won't like Pacore pointing all that out. But I would hope that she's mature enough to see that she need help. Or maybe she'll need her mom to point the obvious. XD. Second, it didn’t really sound like it affected the inner soul, only the surface? Third, if the damage of the soul still affected her rate of exp absorption, Tabitha would’ve been most affected, as she literally had a t6 soul skill appendage through her chest, and absorbed more exp than Aaliyah in the soul horror incident, which should mean more soul damage.

Upon further analyzing it the more obvious answer would be the skill's addictive quality. We already know gaining experience is a euphoric sensation, mix in the skills continuous call to devour, and I could see Aaliyah needing to only use it sparingly to prevent it's temptation from pushing her into more insidious actions.

Tabitha alone got two tier 5 skills and who knows how many skill levels from that fight, and we can see Aaliyah's, so it isn't as if they're just levelling like crazy with nothing else. They also earned at least some of that experience from their killing of it. Probably not good to keep going like that in the long run, but in short bursts I'd imagine it's okay.

I remember it being previously stated that Nobles no longer used contracts to transfer experience from commoners because it would make learning noble skills more difficult. Maybe this will be similar where now they will have trouble leveling skills that don't deal with being a lesser dragon.

Like I get it, it's an overpowered skill mixed with an overpowered artifact, but at the same time it sets a dangerous precedent, especially with the skill being so low level. I feel like absorbing 50% of the total experience at her current level means that anything else she fight around her level will give her an insane amount of experience which might make things a bit too easy going forward.

Remember when the chapter where Aaliyah ask Del for help on soul sense? In that chapter I’m almost 99% sure there was a statement that Aaliyah’s soul was over three times larger than Del’s despite being lower leveled. I’m just applying it to the current situation, which I think is a conservative estimation. If exp absorption was based on something like sense, than the entire world would know about it, people will notice those with higher sense are getting more exp.

2025-02-18 02:11:23 +0000 UTCI think I would need to double check your numbers to be sure but i suspect you're bang on the money with that analysis. a large amount of loss in transfer makes sense due to low levels of the xp transfer skill but I think if the limiter is soul size/ organization Aaliyah should be capable of disproportionately absorbing larger amounts of xp compared to her baseline level capabilities. Three to four times feels like vibes more than math but not unreasonable. So either the math doesn't math or the absorption is based at least partially on something else or limited by something else that is unknown. Mind or Clarity perhaps?

2025-02-18 02:07:04 +0000 UTCThe whole hyping up Aaliyah’s soul size, which is referenced plenty and used as comparison for high-level individual, is pointless when actual mechanics and plot doesn’t take it into account. What is “overall soul”? It’s been made clear experience congregate on the surface of the soul, the actual soul develops and is not dependent on level, which is seen by Aaliyah. It’s also not just pain tolerance, because it’s stated that Aaliyah’s simply can’t handle it, the author made it so she can’t take in more than 50% of their experience. Then what’s the point of Aaliyah having a larger soul? This is just a dissonance of having your cake and eating it, having you Mc be all special but also making them weak enough to not rush growth. Bad writing, that can really be solved by having Tabitha level less and exp transfer be more inefficient. The 50% rule is just really bafflingly.

For me, the reason why Aaliyah can so easily pick up skills is a combination between her reincarnation status and mindset. Her earth memories gives her a more scientific way of viewing the world, which is shown through her often testing with mana, and perhaps most importantly, her general wonder at this new world which only boost her willingness and openness to try all sorts of new things. Despite this world not having classes, humans still have developed quite a rigid job classification system. I think Aaliyah is really the only human we know so far that has skills at high levels in all sorts of industries? Not even the ones adjacent (I.e. Pacore having high dancing is adjacent to combat) Aaliyah is so far really the only one with a build that can support both physical + magic jobs. As for the reason why she has an abnormally large soul, the answer is likely the boring one: going through the transmigration across different planes of existence + age is most likely why her soul’s bigger.

So the only thing that comes to mind here is that I vaguely remember Aaliyah having and unusual soul early, my remember impression is that this is what helped, in part at least, learn skills more quickly. It seems reasonable the above and Aaliyah soul skills would give her an edge over Tabitha in adsorbing experience. If either of those do have an impact I would expect it to be a percentage effect off of Aaliyah's total experience so seems, without any calculations, like it would still be smallish compared to what Tabitha can absorb due to the still huge total experience difference. That is all gut and impressions, I do not remember enough of the hard specifics of how leveling and experience work in this world. The current level change comes off as a major and appropriate reward.

Del could have been an absolutely cool blacksmith if he had not been deprived of a blessing (for example, during a deep soul inspection, the eye would always be open if there was a blessing) - and therefore he only has blacksmith skills, although his race is sharpened for the magic craft (and, as far as I understand, he was taught even the most basic things in his homeland). Aaliyah, whose soul is simply huge for her age, can learn skills simply by picking up an object (I'm kidding). Otherwise, the size of the soul would correlate with experience and mean that Aaliyah needs MUCH more experience than any other person even for the 2nd level.

Tabitha's level is a good bit higher which matters a lot, thus her soul is stronger and can handle a good bit more all at once. The over all sending some her way I'd say helps her get even more in the end, send over some she can't handle and keep on grabbing more! Yes though our girls soul skill level and such I'd say do help a darn good bit, just not as much as a higher level would I'd also say.

At such a low skill level it seems silly that she can transfer around 4 times as much xp than she herself can absorb. Personally I would greatly reduce the usfull xp Tabatha gets both here and in the first transfer, but make this gain larger than the first due to Aaliyah's rising skill lvl and actually explain that in story, as I didn't think that skill lvl was doing anything at all untill I got to your notes at the end.

The amount of exp absorbed shouldn’t be level dependent, the size of the soul is what determines the strength, and therefore the amount of exp the soul should handled. Aaliyah has always been described as having an abnormally large soul, three times the size of Del at the 80s, and this was all the way back when she was either in her 60s or 70s iirc. Her soul should only have grown since reaching lvl 82, yet she can only absorb 14 mil out of the 94 mil her skill took? That’s 15%, compared to Tabitha absorbing around 40% of the exp. Tabitha, despite never having an accurate statement on the size of her soul, can be assumed to have a normal level soul of a level 90-100. So why would Aaliyah, with 3x-4x the size of a soul of a normal person with the same level, be absorbing less than Tabitha, whose soul is at best equal or less compared to Aaliyah’s soul? There’s a pretty easy meta answer that the author don’t want the MC to be leveling that fast, but the math behind it just seem faulty.

Also I don’t think her stats are hard capping her skills. So even if they are not optimal she should still be able to progress her magic skills.

Why on earth would should continue to only invest in physical stats, which are a sideshow for her. She’s utterly wasting experience points.
