I’ve had the distinct pleasure of working with the talented photographer and model Amber Rose two in the past year, and each time she brings her A-Game. Naturally beautiful, talented, and heavily skilled, this woman is truly one of the greats working today in this odd freelance modeling world we take part in.
I had a few hours to kill while in LA earlier this year, and with no location available, I rented a studio near downtown LA and shot with her at night, with my now fiancée in tow, who loves attending shoots anyway.
The studio was a Puff-Daddy style location full of huge, industrial fans, lights in distinct patterns on every wall, and more than enough studio equipment to make a beginning photographer faint. At this point, I either have all that equipment at home and don’t use it or simply couldn’t care less.
Still, we had to take advantage of some of it, making the make-up station it’s own special location. The big vanity mirror with large bulb lights is a cliché, but it works simply because of that cliché. As usual, we had no real plan, but trusted each other’s talents and abilities, and I think we both walked away feeling pretty productive about the whole experience.
