ON THE OUTSIDE
All my life I’ve felt as though I were on the outside. Maybe it’s because I’m the youngest, maybe it’s because I’ve always been naturally creative. Either way, I’ve always been the observer, the one on the outside, distant from the rest.
I suppose this lends to my being a decent photographer. being able to watch from the outside, capture great moments from afar, to be apart from the action so I can document it objectively, separately. This also leads me to be prone to a more melancholy mood, to be more thoughtful, contemplative.
With all the sudden rain California has been getting lately, I wanted to capture this isolated mood into a photo series, and thankfully my buddy Erika is always willing to try the weird ideas I have. She doesn’t do well with the cold, even getting a chill on the warmest, sunniest of days. So to ask her to stand out naked and wet in the rain was a huge effort for her, even though she did so repeatedly over the course of the half hour or more that we shot this huge series.
I hope her freezing to death was worth it, you tell me! Please enjoy this new and special series, taken only two weeks ago! This special lady is one of my dearest friends and one of my biggest inspirations! Lets know what you think!
