King of Games C56 Changes
Added 2024-07-22 14:12:46 +0000 UTCThe latest issue of "Game Insider" magazine hit newsstands, its cover emblazoned with a bold headline: "KiShin's New Allies: Indie Developers Join the Fray!"
Inside, glossy pages detailed the unexpected partnership:
"In a surprising move, KiShin has opened its doors to third-party developers. Small studios like Eight Ball and Kuma Games are now wielding KiShin's cutting-edge development tools..."
Across town, in the offices of "Tech Today," editors scrambled to update their lead story:
"KiShin Expands: David Takes on Goliath?"
The article painted a picture of a shifting gaming landscape, with quotes from industry analysts predicting a potential upset in the console wars.
But the excitement was short-lived.
Days later, gaming forums exploded with shocking news. "Breaking: Sony and Microsoft Slash Funding to KiShin Partners!"
The "Wall Street Journal" ran a front-page story:
"Gaming Giants Retaliate: Sony and Microsoft Pull Support from KiShin Collaborators"
The article detailed how the two industry titans had abruptly terminated contracts and future funding for the small developers who had aligned with KiShin.
One developer, speaking anonymously to "Polygon," said: "It's clear they're making an example of us. The message is loud and clear: partner with KiShin at your own risk."
The gaming world watched in stunned silence, wondering how KiShin would respond to this aggressive move by its larger rivals.

Shinro's lips curled into a wry smile as he scanned the news headlines. "They're really determined to stop my company, aren't they?" he mused, his voice tinged with amusement.
Mira, standing at his side, scoffed. "They're fools if they think they can halt your company's rise, boss." Her eyes gleamed with fierce loyalty.
"Indeed," Shinro nodded, a hint of excitement creeping into his voice. "These companies have yet to witness our virtual technologies..."
The sharp ring of the office telephone cut through their conversation. Mira swiftly answered, her professional demeanor slipping into place. After a brief exchange, she turned to Shinro, her expression tightening almost imperceptibly.
"Boss, someone's here to see you," she said, her tone carefully neutral. "It seems to be your... fiancée." The last word carried a barely detectable edge.
"Fiancée?" Shinro's eyebrows shot up in surprise. Then, recognition dawned on his face. "Ah..."
His mind raced back to the arrangement his parents had made - a pretty high school girl from another wealthy family in Kyoto.
"Momiji Ooka," he murmured, more to himself than to Mira.
Mira's lips pressed into a thin line. "Shall I send her in, sir?"
Shinro hesitated for a moment, his fingers drumming on the desk. Finally, he nodded. "Yes, show her in. Let's see what this is about."
As Mira turned to leave, Shinro caught a fleeting look of... was that disappointment in her eyes? But before he could ponder it further, the door opened, and a figure stepped into his office.
As the door opened, a young woman with striking features entered the office. Her long, light brown hair cascaded down her back, adorned with a characteristic red ribbon. Large, expressive eyes dominated her face, giving her an air of both intelligence and innocence. Her attire, a blend of traditional and modern styles, hinted at her Kyoto heritage.
Shinro's posture relaxed as he recognized her. "It's been a long time, Momiji," he said, a genuine smile touching his lips.
Momiji's presence brought a flood of memories. Their first meeting several months ago, awkward yet intriguing. The follow-up four months later, less stilted, more comfortable. Their encounter two months ago, marked by easy laughter and shared interests.
As Shinro observed her, he realized how much had changed. The initial butterflies, the nervous anticipation - they had faded, replaced by a warm companionship. His days now filled with business strategy and technological innovation, leaving little room for romantic pursuits.
Momiji's eyes crinkled as she returned his smile. "Yeah..." she said softly. Her gaze flicked to the chair in front of his desk. "Can I take a seat?"
"Of course," Shinro gestured welcomingly.
As Momiji gracefully lowered herself into the chair, Shinro couldn't help but notice Mira hovering near the door, her expression unreadable.
Shinro's eyes flicked towards Mira. She caught his subtle nod and quietly slipped out of the office, closing the door behind her with a soft click.
Momiji's gaze followed Mira's departure, a knowing smile playing at her lips. "It seems like you have a lovely employee..."
Shinro leaned back in his chair, his fingers interlacing on the desk. "They're very competent," he replied, his tone neutral but warm.
"I'm glad..." Momiji's voice trailed off, her eyes studying Shinro's face.
A moment of silence stretched between them. Shinro broke it, his voice calm but direct. "Are you here to finally... break off our engagement?"
Momiji's eyebrows rose slightly. She tilted her head, her green eyes searching his face. "Why do you ask?" Her voice was soft, curious rather than defensive.
Shinro's laughter, soft and warm, filled the room. "Didn't we agree with my parents that if we didn't develop feelings for each other after a few months, we could break the engagement?"
Momiji's smile was faint, almost wistful. "Yes, I remember that." Her next words came out in a rush, catching Shinro off guard. "But no... I'm not here to break the engagement. Will you?"
Shinro blinked, momentarily at a loss for words. "Breaking off the engagement?" He paused, gathering his thoughts. "To be honest, during the time we've spent together, I've come to see you as... well, as my younger sister."
Momiji's face fell, a flash of pain crossing her features before she could mask it. "Little... sister?" Her voice wavered slightly.
Shinro's tone was gentle but firm. "I'm 20, and you're only 16, still in high school."
"I understand..." Momiji's fingers toyed with the ribbon in her hair, her attempt at nonchalance betrayed by the slight tremor in her hands. "If... if you want to break the engagement... I'm okay with that."
Shinro's eyebrows rose as he studied Momiji's face. The realization dawned on him that she seemed far more affected by the prospect of ending their arrangement than he had anticipated.
His voice softened, treading carefully. "Maybe I'll... I'll think about it some more." He watched as relief flickered across Momiji's face, mixed with a hint of hope.

Shinro and Momiji continued their conversation for several minutes, with Shinro even giving her a tour of his company's building.
As they walked and talked, Momiji's happiness was palpable. Her eyes sparkled with interest, and her laughter echoed through the hallways. At a discreet distance, her butler, Muga Iori, observed the pair.
Muga's eyes narrowed slightly as he watched their interaction. He thought to himself, "My lady, it seems you've finally shifted your romantic interest from that young Osaka detective to your fiancé. However..." His gaze shifted to Shinro, noting the polite but reserved expression on the young businessman's face. "...it appears he may not reciprocate your feelings in quite the same way."
