Was kinda nervous about posting this one because I'm afraid it's going to be interpreted as pretty dark (which...isn't wrong) but that wasn't my intention. I even almost redid this prompt with something completely different but didn't have the time. It did give me an excuse to draw Superman again though who I really need the practice with.
I have a lot of thoughts on Supergirl (to say the least). Not to diminish any of the other great characters and storylines that have been written over the years, but Kara really works best (imo) when it's just her and Kal as the last remaining survivors of Krypton. But unlike Kal, she can actually remember her home planet. And not in some artificial holographic kind of way, but the sounds of the cities, the smell of food and flora and the trees, the animal life, the art, and the way people interacted with each other. There's no way we can fathom the enormity of that loss.
And yet, despite all that, Kara embodies optimism and joy. She chooses to help others, to inspire and spread cheer. It's often why I depict her like a hyperactive tween, eager to experience everything earth has to offer. It's beautiful. Still, it only makes sense she would seek consolation time to time from the only other person who can even remotely relate to her past, even though her cousin will never truly understand what she has gone through.
