TL/DR: No computer crashes, auto-saving paintings online, I started over with Thorr/Loki because I was unhappy with how it was turning out, WIPs from now on will be a good 30-50% done. DL's Mercury, FEH's Thorr and Loki, and AL's Nelson planned for September. I also added the bonus Sketch Requests to the August post.
Alright everyone, semi blog post here.
I've been doing a lot of thinking on how to address running into future problems, painting things I'm not happy with, and making sure I don't give myself more work than I can handle.
For starters, my computer hasn't crashed in 3 days (Hooorayy!) In case this happens again, I've started to auto-save all my works online and learned how to figure out blue screen errors myself (finding help online is extremely terrible, wouldn't recommend)
Next! Sorry if this disappoints anyone, but I wasn't happy with my Thorr/Loki piece. It was too zoomed out for my liking and things just looked odd. Sooo I started over and found a composition I'm happier with.
From now on, I'll be posting WIP's up to a point where I know I'm 100% happy with finishing it (as seen in these examples!) Going from sketches to painting can change an idea dramatically and sometimes I'm unhappy with how it turns out (Thorr and Loki in this case). It stressed me out because I felt like I needed to deliver what was in the sketch WIP, so I'll avoid this by sharing something further along.
This also helps with planning for the month. These paintings are around 30-50% done and just need to be refined. Even if I have difficulties getting time to paint, the hard part is already done. I can also look at these paintings and go "Yeah I can see myself finishing these in time."
That being said, I'm sorry I didn't finish Thorr/Loki this month. You all basically caught me at a time where I needed to learn how to start being more professional at handling things. If this hindered anyone at all, please send me a DM and we'll work something out.
Annnd I think that's it for this post! I hope I made sense and that you all don't mind these blog posts.
