New Character (?)
Added 2024-09-12 06:44:35 +0000 UTCJust taking a more organic approach to see if I can come up with a character that's fun to draw! Ended up spending a lot more time working to put the scene together, so I feel there could perhaps be just a little more to work on for the character's design, what do you think? I'd like to create something that's a bit more distinct this time.
It's been a busy month putting together some preparations for the upcoming exhibition, so I just want to thank everyone again for all their kind support and patience, it means a lot. I'll get back to finishing a few more pieces I have in the oven before I have to leave for Japan (for a few days)!
As always, the process breakdown will be recorded and put up as soon as I can manage, so please look forward to that as well.

2024-09-17 15:28:01 +0000 UTCNot too long ago I was watching Steins;Gate movie Fuka ryouiki no Déjà Vu and during the scene where Kurisu and Okarin are sitting in the laundrette while discussing laundry and sewing, I just got a déjà-vu effect with a red-hair girl surrounded by washing machines. Not quite the same view, environment or context as your previous drawing, but still. And later on in the movie, as we see Suzuha's braids droping on her chest from a high angle, below her cap, I had another déjà-vu effect... with this new drawing. Maybe my mind got stuck on the braids (I love them, in general, and here in particular, even though I quite understand it's a huge pain to draw. The haircut is S-tier btw XD). I have no idea if you know the game series and I suppose this is 100% a pure coincidence that my mind made a connection, though it's quite interesting to see sometimes some small patterns repeating, while evolving in completely different universs (or world line :p). Alright, enough with the anecdote. Thanks again for this beautiful piece!! And good luck for the exhibition and the trip. I hope you can enjoy it to the fullest.

Looking at her clothes alone you can tell that she's supposed to be someone athletic/physical in combat. Then eyes go to the gauntlets and the sword and it becomes a confirmation. But I especially like the hair design, different from your usual style but you were able to make it look so natural with shape language, lose strands and all. You can rock any idea you want. If it is okay for me to make a suggestion though, I would maybe try to add subtle armor/metal parts on the upper parts of the character, so that it creates more cohesive design with the gauntlets. It could be small collar necklace that looks like made of armor. Or maybe something on her head or shoulders. Just a suggestion though! I'm sure you will bring this design to a polish in no time. :)
