Surprise artwork!
Gothic style armor, despite it's need for details and motifs, somehow feels a lot more intuitive (and thus fun) to draw! It's also very rewarding watching the details come together to help sell the piece and composition as a whole at the very end of the process.
Filling in the scene with a good backdrop was quite a challenge though, as I really wanted something quite concrete (rather than depth-of-field blurred) to help build the scene. With some research I was able to put together some reasonable buildings you might find in a period city.
This was a piece I created for 3dtotal's latest instructional book - Artistsβ Master Series: Perspective and Depth. It's a really good read with many perspectives (pun not intended) from other artist contributors as well, so feel free to check it out!
Otherwise - I will still be doing my usual style short process walkthrough video this month!
Additionally! -
3dtotal is also running a test auction for a 1-of-1 signed print of this artwork and signed book, which you can feel free to check out here!
Thank you all for your amazing support - and yes, there will of course still be a set coming up on the regular this month:)
