Drizzle (High-Res + Process Steps)

Trying out a new angle of view that I think looks cool. It's also always fun to do some rain again. :)

Let me know of any feedback for the process steps (too long, too short, etc) as always, thank you!

I love the texture on the dress and the work you did with her braid!

Chris

Thank you very much and I hope you enjoy your stay!

Oh I see, thank you for clarifying! In that case I agree that it can mislead people into thinking that "pro artists" paint super fast, especially in purposefully edited segments of promotional videos where like 2 hours of progress is being shown in 1 minute; speed in general is also something I want to discourage newer artists from fixating on as well.

Hi, I'm new here as well, very nice to meet you. Your work is absolutely stunning. Its my first time supporting someone on patreon and I'm glad I made the decision. :)

Haha dangerous for the brain might be the wrong way to put it, I meant more like it makes people unconsciously feel incompetent as they see strokes being put down one after the other instantly while in reality there was more thought put into that. But I guess that further justifies your opinion of wanting to have commentary as to not misguide the viewer. And people probably won't watch a 6-10 hour long video either. So yeah I definitely get your point and it makes a lot sense. Thanks for explaining and looking forward to video 3!

Hello and welcome, thank you for the long time of watching :)

Thank you very much for the feedback, I'm also glad that you are rediscovering the fun in creating art again! I also feel that speedpaint timelapse is not too great a way to convey info as it's a bit hard to talk about everything that is happening. I'm not sure it is "dangerous to the brain" per se, but I can see that it might by annoying and nauseating that things fly by so fast. I am definitely going to be exploring 1x speed formats focusing on topics and smaller pieces of more digestible information. For example video 2 is about 3-4x speed compared to 12x in video 1, so far it seems people do enjoy the more focused presentation. However, my personal opinion on full-length, no commentary videos is quite negative. I think it is really difficult for most people to get learning value out of a 10 hour video with no explanation and just painting, and I feel it becomes too easy to blindly follow "step-by-step" and trapped by another artist's process down to the point, which is also why I try to talk more about foundational things rather than just straight 1-2-3's. I think a lot of newer artists are very eager to pick up knowledge, so I especially want to avoid handicapping people's art by "teaching" them a process; instead I try to focus on how to generate your own process based on fundamental elements of drawing. That is why if I ever do record a longer demo, I would definitely want to voice over the whole thing to make sure the wrong lesson is avoided. I hope you can understand, and thank you again for writing in!

I'm new here nice to meet you, been a fan of your work for along time

Thank you as always for taking the time to give feedback! I also think it's an unfortunate tradeoff to achieve a closer framing on the torso while still capturing some body language, I think the cropping can probably be improved as well. :) (She is holding an unlit cigarette in the left hand)

Amazing as always. I never thought I would subscribe to anyone on patreon but your work made me fell in love with digital painting again after I decided to quit. I have a request if it's possible, but is there a chance you start uploading the full process? No commentary or analysis, just the full process from start to finish at normal speed. What you're doing now is extremely helpful but speedpaints can be deceiving and they can do damage to the learning viewers (I read somewhere that it can affect the brain negatively since that it isn't the normal speed it's actually happening at). So what I'm asking for is just an occasional upload of the full process at normal speed without any editing so hopefully it's not too much additional work for you as you already do a lot in the stuff you already post. Big love <3

I would say its about an 85mm lens (simulated of course), it keeps the distortion relatively low :)

Excellent illustration. The rain effects are always very successful, the background is very worked and the pose of the character st interesting. I just regret the cut at the bottom because I can't quite figure out if she is holding something in her left hand? Because if it is the case, it would add strength to the composition.

You've been grinding out these hard low angle shots lately! what kinda lens are you using in this shot? XD

Thank you :)

GUWEIZ

Thank you, it was a fun angle to draw!

Stunning
