I watched the first episode a few times, and I gathered a few interesting bits of information or ideas that people might have missed. Yappathon incoming. I'm not going to put a spoiler warning here because these are my own personal thoughts, but if you don't want any idea or if I happen to be right about anything then don't read any more of this comment :) something that I feel strongly about now that I've seen it a few times is that this whole anime is from Takopi's perspective. The intro is happy and upbeat and sounds like it could be takopi's VA singing it but I could be wrong, the OST's mood reflects takopi's mental state, which is usually happy even if there's something awful going on, The art of Marina is cutesy and innocent, until takopi finally understands what's going on and everything changes Also, I've seen so many people saying Marina needs to die and that she's evil and nothing can fix her or redeem her, and I felt the same way, but there was something bugging me about that. I kinda realized how much that proves the complete opposite. From Marina's perspective, shizuka is the embodiment of "You are the reason why my life is trash, you are the reason why my mom beats me. She needs to be taught a lesson" and for us, we look at marina and say "She is the reason why shizuka's life is trash, she needs to die." Nothing that she does is justified, obviously. But the fact that we as the audience are feeling so similarly to how marina is feeling, if defensibly, that Marina needs to die, or that we're happy she's being abused, it really shows that it's quite a believable reaction to have, to think "it's all her fault that my life is like this". I think this show is going to have a hard time redeeming marina as a character, but I'm growing to the idea of it more and more. This is the type of show where right and wrong become blurred, because they're simple concepts that don't map on well to complex situations like this. I think using the words "right" or "wrong" is completely pointless. The situation is awful, and I hope that it gets better for everyone involved also, it's such a fucked cycle too. Marina's dad beats marina's mom, marina's mom beats marina, marina beats shizuka, it seems like it's all that family knows. To relieve your own stress from being beaten, beat someone weaker than you, what an awful awful awful situation. Moral of the story, adults are to blame for the actions of kids 100 percent of the time
