Hi everyone and welcome to today's public post!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Mini-Update satisfaction poll, I'll post results and discussion below.
This week, my main focus has been on tightening up and bugfixing. I'd hoped to have a bugfix release out by now to address a couple of the little niggles that are in the mini-update. The worst is the freeze on Nissa's recruitment during Queen of the Ring. There is actually a workaround for this while we're waiting for the bugfix release, and that's to simply wait 15 seconds. Sounds weird, but it works, try it.
I'm also aware that Linux users haven't found the release as easy to use as I might have hoped. Being a Windows peasant myself, I've the ability to neither test nor troubleshoot the game on Linux, so future releases will be marked as WIN rather than WIN/LINUX. I am reliably informed that the game can be played with a Windows emulator.
Best Frenemies, Jess's relationship quest and, for those of you just joining us, the next quest to be added, is currently at the writing and storyboarding stage. Once I've got the bugfix update out of the way, I'll start getting that properly integrated with the game.
Poll Discussion
I figured it was a little pointless to break this down by category as I usually do as this survey all says one thing: the mini-update was extremely well received.
The overwhelming majority of you consider it to be a great addition and over 60% intend to use it permanently. There was near-universal approval of the new scenes and over 90% agreed that it was a worthwhile endeavour. Even the objective reminders, a relatively small change received high acclaim.
There was one really great piece of qualitative feedback along the lines that Missy should be more defiant in Defeat Mode. It was upvoted significantly enough that I want to address the issues raised.
I should mention that the reason Missy capitulates at the end of the new scene is because Poppy has worn her down, (this builds on what she says after the bathroom ambush scene,) and also to make it marry up more easily with the start of Avenging Angel. I could potentially go back and add a choice for the player not to submit, perhaps accompanied by a few shots of the bad girls doing something particularly unpleasant to Missy before giving up on trying to break her, but I'd consult on that first. Thoughts are welcome in the comments. If you disagree strongly, it's equally as important to have your say, as silence tends to imply assent.
Until next time!
