A little world-building for the few of you who I know are hungry for that sort of thing.
Probably one of the biggest questions on people's minds, often asked about but not usually directly is how do these lil anthro-cars go about going from bipedal to feral mode? I guess when at home in their own garage it's not so much a question but what about when out in the middle of the day?
Think about it Anthro-cars are basically the self-driving cars, automated driver pick-up systems in development now taken to the extreme.. and when would an anthro-car be most likely to be out walking around living life during the day? When their owner is at work probably, during all that time a real life car spends 8 hours sitting in a parking lot. Or maybe while their owner is at the grocery store the car wants to browse the surrounding shops rather then sit in a parking lot eh?
An AniMECH car can receive calls for pick-up from something like the owner's cellphone, but if they're already changed into clothing and walking around bipedal that doesn't help the owner much if they need a ride home does it? Not unless the owner is okay being carried under arm like a football.
Enter the AniMECH anthro-car changing stalls. In major cities you can find a pair of these things every few blocks. The actual stalls are just bare metal boxes but they can be dressed up with an outer sleeve of construction to blend in more nicely with the surrounding area.. as you can see in this example. I'm no architect but I'm going for a modern-American architecture.
With these, for a low entry fee a car can change from feral to bipedal and dress or the other way around. One side has a feral door that looks much like a garage door and on the back-side there is a tall door for bipedal cars. AniMech constructs these an maintains them, the entry fees and tax dollars go towards maintenance and the construction of more.
They're fairly bare inside, but automated arms are stationed inside to assist in grabbing the bagged clothing (usually stored inside the passenger compartment) for the car and holding it for the car to grab once he/she finishes transforming.
