I don't know if you heard Fat Gum's voiceover during the buildup to the end of the fight but with his power he was able to absorb the multiple punches strength being given to him by his attacker but on the flip side he was losing his Fat's ability to protect him from anything (so its strength) Kirashima came in and gave Fat Gum enough time to channel the energy those punches gave him into a single strong attack that helped take down their opponents...

2020-04-27 16:15:21 +0000 UTCI'd heard that this scene is actually a lot bloodier in the manga. (Though, can't speak to that personally). But this is still the TV broadcast version of the episode here, an that could actually be an edit they made that'll be restored when the season is released on video. Not saying for sure it will, but sometimes changes like that happen. (There are always SOME changes, though. Like scenes that have a certain amount of brightness, the picture is dimmed for broadcast because of some of Japan's TV laws, but then the intended brightness is restored later).

2020-04-16 00:05:25 +0000 UTCkirishima is one of my absolute favorites in hero aca and i love this episode. that fear kirishima was dealing with is so real and im so glad they talk about that aspect of being a hero. rushing out without thinking is badass but freezing in fear and having to overcome that requires a lot of strength as well. sometimes it’s easy to forget that these guys are just kids and episodes like this really serve as a reminder of just how young they are, how incredible it is what they’re doing at this age. seeing all this really shines a new light on some of the stuff we’ve seen with kiri already as well. like how he was the first, right next to bakugou, to jump into the fight at the usj and how he didn’t hesitate to run out to save bakugou when he was kidnapped. now we know how far he had to come to get there and shows even more what a loyal friend he is. he was also second place in the entrance exam with 39 villain points and 35 rescue points while bakugou had 77 villain points. he really thought he wouldn’t be good enough to get into ua at all and he did that well in the exam. it’s also kinda interesting to see that kirishima and tamaki aren’t as different as they may seem. kiri just has a more ‘fake it til you make it’ attitude towards handling it. that was kirishima’s skin all cracking and falling off during that fight by the way, so thats mildly horrifying. also fat gum is the fuckin best and i adore him.

2020-04-15 23:29:07 +0000 UTCI like that since we already had one episode focusing on Kirishima, even though he's still clearly the focus of this one, Horikoshi was still able to give us at least a little more of a look at an additional one with Ashido having gone to middle school with him. Makes me wonder if there are any other students in Class A (other than Midoriya and Bakugo of course) who knew each other from before UA. Anyway, I loved Fat Gum's unveiling another aspect of his quirk to store damage he takes and use it as power for his own attacks.
