Actually, as Ray points out, Norman is smarter in a different way than him. Strategy. Ray is more intelligent when it comes to mechanics, memorization and quick thinking. There are typically different types of intelligences in this world, so I'm assuming the same can be said for the world they're living in as well.

Ray and Norman are the two smartest, Ray may actually be smarter than Norman even though Norman is seen as the most intelligent one. Ray surpasses Norman and will be a huge help.

I think that moment where Ray and Norman had that one moment off odd expressions was definitely weird. I'm not too sure what it meant.
