There is no L in japanese. His name is pronounced らい crunchyroll subtitles are still lackluster but this is an issue a lot of animes have, like even One Piece.

I heard a good while back that crunchyroll doesn't properly pay their subtitle translators and instead spend it on luxury type of shit for their office. It was a year ago or so.
