HOTD Season 1 episode 1!!

10/10. Love this show and your reaction. I highly recommend, if you haven’t already, listening to the official podcast. They dive deep into the history and lore and discuss things, without giving any spoilers away. It’s really good.

I don't know what your setup is, but I'd recommend getting an external HD with a few TB of space. You can get one for under $100, and it will give you space to move and store huge files.

Hey guys, it’s great to see you enjoying HOTD as much as you are Rhaenyra, Viserys’ daughter & heir to the throne, her name is pronounced ray-near-rah Then there’s Rhaenys Targaryen who is Viserys’ cousin, The Queen Who Never Was that gave her favor to the Baratheon Knight at the tourney, her name is pronounced ray-nees I used to always get their names mixed up, it drove me crazy! Oh, & I think dragons smell like campfire, cloves & musty like old leather

I imagine dragons smell like smoked ham with a pinch of cinnamon.

It’s a slow burn - totally different pace than the og GoT, but it fits well and still brings the shock and awe drama. Thank you!

Also, Aaron! Deamon, is my fave G R R Martin character, ever, so far. He is so complex, Good and Bad, Mat Smith nails him! I think you are already in love with him , I look forward to watching you, watching him..as his character progresses through out the show.

Loved watching you both here. Seeing the new excitement and fulfillment of this series light up that fire, that GoT did originally. HOTD gets better and better. Can't wait to watch you both experience this and heal from the big let down of the end of Season 8 of GoT...

so what I loved about this episode is how well written it was, it was titled "Heirs of the Dragon" and unknowingly you are seeing what both Daemon and Rhaenyra are made of as they are the only real heirs to the throne. In subtle ways, you see Rhaenyra being political. Knowing the history without reading the book and during the tourney as she asks her knights for information, her being the cupbearer for the council. Then you see Daemon's way of politics through fear with the city watch. Then you see how they both feel when it comes to them being replaced by a son. Rhaenyra not minding but Daemon dreading it.

Jorah Mormont's ex-wife was named Lynesse Hightower - she's the one who wanted fancy things that Jorah couldn't provide so he started criming to support her lifestyle and that's what got him banished from Westeros

The black guy is Corlys Velaryon. The Velaryons are, like the Targaryens, originally from Valyria, and their castle is near Dragonstone, so these two houses have always been close. The Velaryons don’t have dragons though so they have always played second fiddle to Targaryens (unless they marry a Targaryen, which would mean their kids have Targaryen blood so they can ride dragons). Corlys is currently master of ships and has made a fortune from travelling the world, making the Velaryons the richest house in Westeros (maybe alongside the Lannisters).
