Yeah the vampire pissing blood was very cool

I saw this a looong time ago on cable, but had forgotten almost all of it. I just remembered the urinal blood scene and the mirrors breaking as the vampire approached. Weird how this and Poison for the Fairies have a similar twist at the end...

It was first published in the horror anthology Prime Evil (I know this because I'm a huge Clive Barker fan and he also had a story in it).

Miguel Ferrer is such an awesome actor. It's a crime that his only leading roles were in this and 1993's The Harvest (where he met his wife). Stephen King himself approached Miguel to play Dees. He had previously appeared in The Stand as Flagg's right hand man, Lloyd Henreid. SK has said that Lloyd was his own favorite of his characters he wrote for that story. I don't think you missed anything. Dwight warned Dees if he followed him again, he'd pay. He just had to see his face, so Dwight gave him a glimpse into hell. I don't even think he was looking to frame him. It was just circumstance. SK actually wrote a sequel script that was to follow Katherine and her downfall as she sunk into the tabloid line of work, but it never got made. The short story appears in Nightmares & Dreamscapes. The ending is completely different and there is no rival reporter. As SK likes to connect his works, the Dees character appeared briefly in The Dead Zone novel harassing the protagonist for a story. I love this film and think it's one of the most underrated SK adaptations. Others that deserve more love are The Mangler (Tobe Hooper doesn't disappoint) and Graveyard Shift.
