Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) UNCUT

At the end I said I didn't find this as scary as I thought, but my faces and reactions say differently lol

Freddie Kruger uncut… there’s some irony somewhere

There's a channel I watch because I love film theory, and he came up with the idea that Marge started dreaming about Kruger too shortly after Nancy did. It makes sense and I personally think it's why she started hitting the bottle so hard and that she's in denial about her dreams so she doubles down on Nancy. When Kruger is pulled out of the dream, he really isn't, it's still a dream. Nancy never set those traps, talked her mom to sleep, etc. She realizes this and sends her dad away so she can rid herself of Freddy. She then opens the door to a peaceful night's sleep but what we see is Freddy going straight into Marge's dream as she's passed out drunk on the couch. Her dream is like the ideal "It's a beautiful day and I feel like a new person because I've beat my addiction", plus Nancy got sleep like she wanted before Freddy comes and gets revenge. It really fits and is my go to interpretation now thanks to that channel. Speaking of revenge, Part 2 and New Nightmare are my favorites of the series. Freddy has never been creepier than he is in 2. Part 4 is the best of the wise-cracking Freddy films. Freddy vs. Jason is abysmal. Possibly my least favorite of both franchises, though I also hate Jason Lives. Nancy saying she looks 20 years old might just be my favorite line in the franchise. A friend and I reference it all the time. 😆 I also can't stand the no one believes you trope, but it's never bothered me with the Nightmare series for whatever reason. I blame Child's Play 2 in particular for souring me on that trope when I was a kid.

They used to call New Line Cinema "The house that Freddy built." While modern copies of Fire Walk With Me are distributed by MK2 these days, it used to be the New Line Cinema logo at the beginning in the before times.

Thanks for getting this up earlier in the day btw, Saturday tea-time is perfect for a horror

Since you asked, the 3rd one is my favorite of the NOES movies. I enjoy Freddy's comedic punchlines, which get better as the series continues. Freddy vs. Jason was fun too.

Audio sounds basically alright to me, your mic is a bit bassy but it's always going to be difficult to mix your studio with the movie soundtrack. When listening to even official movie audio I still have to fiddle with all the settings at my end for balance and volume normalisation What are others saying the issue is?

I've always wondered if the scene in the school partially inspired Twin Peaks... the scene where everybody is like a zombie as she looks around is VERY reminiscent of how the students behaved when Donna was crying in class in the pilot as are the creepy school hallway shots they used when Ronette is having a nightmare in her coma (and also in the first episode of season 3).

Yeah, but if you really want to see her shock the audience, her best roles are in the Farrelly Bros. films (specifically Kingpin and There's Something About Mary).

Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. At conventions, he takes a lot of time speaking to each fan and makes you feel like you're talking movies with your best friend. ❤️ And that glove is no joke. Real razors - he put it to my throat for a photo op! 😬 LoL!

The movie Nancy is watching on the TV is the original Evil Dead! At the time, Wes Craven and Sam Raimi were having a brief back and forth with references to each other’s films.

@24:15 Not sure if you recognized the teacher. She was in Dead End, which you did a fw for. She's done tons of stuff. Insidious might be her most popular horror role.
