Carpenter excelled at creating unease without relying on gobs of fake blood. The remake of this is terrible except for one scene: When the Sea Grass meets the ghost ship.

The chatty older lady around 30 minutes in (driving station wagon) is Janet Leigh (star of Psycho AND Jamie Lee Curtis' real mom). This movie also helped establish Jamie as a "scream queen". Check out her other horror movies from around the same time; Terror Train (1980), Prom Night (1980) and Road Games (1981). Oh yeah, and the guy that called to report the fog was the sheriff in Halloween.🎃
