A friend at work told me about this movie before I saw it. He told me it was about Pirates that come out of the fog. For some reason I thought he meant the baseball team. That would've been a very different movie.

he is really good with eerie terror, which I love! I'm going to watch the remake eventually and do a comparison video

I was 11 or 12 when my mother took me to see this in the theater. Despite the absence of gore, it gave me nightmares. Carpenter excelled at creating unease without relying on gobs of fake blood. The remake of this is terrible except for one scene: When the Sea Grass meets the ghost ship.

Wow no way! I need to learn these horror icons faces haha. I didn’t realize John Carpenter was the guy in body bags until recently 😂

That's the man himself, John Carpenter, around 4 minutes in. (the guy that didn't get paid in the church). The chatty older lady around 30 minutes in (driving station wagon) is Janet Leigh (star of Psycho AND Jamie Lee Curtis' real mom). This movie also helped establish Jamie as a "scream queen". Check out her other horror movies from around the same time; Terror Train (1980), Prom Night (1980) and Road Games (1981). Oh yeah, and the guy that called to report the fog was the sheriff in Halloween.🎃
