Added 2023-08-18 19:13:54 +0000 UTCA year ago, when I announced this Patreon, and a pivot from quantity -> quality, I was scared. I knew I wanted to change the show and commit to deep investigations, but I wasn't sure if anyone would understand the vision. It's now been 8 months, I've never been more sure that this was the right call.
I've included some screenshots above of our videos before the switch, vs. after. I didn't bother labeling them, I think it's clear enough which are which.
And it's not just visuals, that's just easy to show. There is so much work put in behind the scenes, and though we produce LESS than before, the shows are longer, better researched, and I've never been more excited and committed to this channel.
We're just getting started, and I couldn't have done it without your support.
Video early access coming ~ next week for the big investigation. 😊

You are creating incredibly high-quality work and doing genuine good for people in the process of pursuing those passions. You're smart at what you do, you have an incredibly skilled team at your side, and you are trying to make the world a better place in the capacity to which you are able. It's admirable, and so are you. Keep on keeping on, Coffee, you're on the right track. (But if you want to do a less high-end video reacting to Shark Tank pitches or infomercial history or particularly audacious MLM scams as a treat once in a while, no one will begrudge it! You deserve to get a little silly with it now and then, too.)

There’s actually a very unfortunate story behind that, it was created by a fan who used a Lofi sample, which I then licensed properly after I realized how good the song was. However, the person who licensed it to me, was unable to stop their label from automatically copyright claiming me every time I put it in my videos, so there was always this hassle when I’d have to email him every time we uploaded a video. Eventually, things always got resolved, but it resulted in a huge headache. Every time I wanted to put the track in, even though I had fairly paid for the license. Just another example of the music industry being absolute garbage, and hurting both the creator and the audience.

I haven't thought of it lately but it does make sense it's an intentional choice as opposed to constantly putting up videos to keep up with the youtube algorithm but I think your content is better than it's ever been. The multi part investigations always feel like a big event to me so it feels so good to be there when each one drops. Love you coffee ☕
