The interesting thing about shell companies is to follow the money you need to connect the links of the chain. With "pass through" shell companies money can move anywhere and once the one shell is shuttered the chain is broken and all investigation is thwarted. Only Interpol has the charter for cross jurisdiction pursuit. They must however rely on local government judicial support to complete the task. Their budget has been cut to literally nothing. They have been nullified. Note this shell stacking tactic is not only done for monetary gain but also to deflect liability as needed. Lets say you are doing something environmentally criminal. You could be prosecuted and penalties can be an existential threat. But if you spin up independent shell companies and then contract them to do the dirty work and then bankrupt them as an exit strategy - you as the primary are not culpable for the actions of the independent secondary or tertiary etc. Its so trivial to set up these concerns. Note that the Trump - Stormy Daniels payout was alleged to have been done through a "momentary" shell company that it is my understanding was created in less than 72 hrs. Imagine - shell companies - on demand - on speed dial.
