I dont mean to insult anyone’s intelligence here but I find this topic interesting.
Adobe (Lightroom and Photoshop) last year has launched a variety of Ai applications that continue to get better. In photography your iris or aputure is measured by a f stop value. The lower the f stop value the more light is let in. This is called a fast lens 2.8 and below are usually what one considers fast. In this case last night with Steph I was at f stop 1.2. This allows the background to be completely blurred and more focus on Steph. The first shot is f 5.6 so the scene is more in focus. The last 2 shots you can see are at 1.2. They are very dreamy and focused on Steph. Interestingly the second shot is Adobe background blur using Ai. The last two shots are in camera 1.2. If I was just starting out in portrait photography and didn’t care about the fundamentals of photography I may be inclined to not buy a $2000 portrait lens and just use Adobe background blur instead… but I’m glad I learned the old school way. I grew up around dark rooms and film photography but was relived when digital photography took over.
