WIP Showcase: Kroxy & Logie commission

This isn't an early access or anything, but I wanted to post my process for the latest commission (you can see it here: https://twitter.com/avantaberrant/status/1288677195292893185)

Hopefully it can help anyone who's tryna learn etc etc

With this piece, I wanna call into attention the impact that lighting can have on a piece. I'm using diffused light mixed with some back-lighting flair to create a vivid and eye-catching scenery.

You might be able to see that even in that 3rd WIP shot (the flat colour one) I was already thinking about how I'm gonna set up the lighting, by adding a luminosity layer and adding some light glares from the left window and reflected off of the backs and shoulders of the characters. Having that in mind, I was able to decide to use a smoother, lower contrast shading on the rest of the body, knowing that the rim light is gonna give plenty of contrast anyway.

Just as how cinematographers can use literal lights to create certain moods in their scenes, artists can and should also get creative with lighting to make their art more eye-catching.

Here's a video about movie lighting techniques, that I think can definitely be useful for artists: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXcc79AmkyU
