Daily Short: Kyo 12
Added 2022-12-02 07:41:22 +0000 UTC“Innocent!” Kyo said. Talos raised one eyebrow, and she went on the attack, pointing to the culprit. “Mr. Clay, guilty!” She used impeccable logic, pointing to the still charcoal floating party.
“Mr. Clay?” Talos said with both eyebrows raised now.
Kyo nodded and said, “Evil.” She floated up a few inches and slowly rotated till she was upside down due to accidental motion. Her oversized shirt attacked from above, covering her face. “Eeeep!”
Talos sighed and moved to switch her floating position till she could see again. “Just to be clear, you were not experimenting, right?”
“No!” Kyo said with sparkling eyes. “Not experiment when an answer is known.” She used undeniable logic!
“That’s rather advanced reasoning,” Talos said suspiciously.
“Big Sister told me,” Kyo said, immediately throwing her floating Big Sister Nota to the butcher’s knife. She pointed behind Talos, causing brief confusion.
Talos looked at her, then at the brick, then turned and realized a floating book was attempting to sneak out the lab entrance. Giving chase, the sizeable hulking cat managed to wrangle Nota back inside the lab. Kyo was sure if she wanted to, nothing could have stopped Nota from escaping.
“Alright. I’m going over this once, and only once.” Talos said, giving a glare at the silent brick and the floating book. “Don’t be luring the munchkin into doing idiotic things. Fighting invaders? Fine. Testing weird bubbly potions that hiss? No.”
Both of the creatures waited for the other shoe to drop. Kyo listened while her tail wiped over Mr. Clay to help clean faster. Talos went into a series of easy-to-remember rules, safety precautions, and general recommendations. It was boring until the last part of the conversation had shocking news.
Kyo gaped and said, “No cooking foods?”
Talos nodded and said, “None. I won’t cook anything for you if you don’t play darts.”
Kyo teared up and said, “No food cooked?”
“No, stop looking like I’ve stolen your milk supply,” Talos said, looking away guilty.
“Milk thief!?” Kyo said in despair, with one hand reaching into nothing.
“I think he’s just stating possibilities, dear,” Nota said, causing Kyo to recover almost instantly. Without her precious milk and food under threat, it was easy to think again.
After a long thinking time with her face scrunched up, Kyo finally said, "Agreed."
“Now that that is cleared up, let’s clean up the bodies,” Talos said with a deep sigh.
“What bodies?” Kyo asked, confused. She was sure there hadn’t been any bodies after the garden finished with them.
“The bodies from the fight?” Talos said questioningly. “I don’t remember smelling any blood…”
Kyo said, “Eaten.” The bodies had all been consumed by the garden. Plant Manipulation IV informed her in no uncertain terms, there was nothing left to clean.
Talos looked nervous and said, “What ate them? Did you get a look?”
Kyo nodded and said, “Will show!” She’d been talking in shorthand, and it was becoming a habit.
Leading the enormous cat to the garden, she pointed and said, “Eaten.”
Talos looked at the garden for a long moment before he said, “Roast me. The plants are alive, aren’t they?”
Comments
Somehow I don't think Selene had this planned when having the garden made full of dangerous plants. Not that there is such thing as a safe plant with plant manipulation 4 around.
