Survey: 2D art rewards

This is a survey for all patrons who support me.

I've been thinking about ways I can add value to the game and something that I can outsource (get help with from an external artist) and add to the game is 2D art.

What I'm asking you in this survey is if you're interested in seeing this kind of art in Being a DIK?

At the moment, you can think of the 2D art as a gallery item, in the same way as Special renders work. It's something you would have to hunt for to unlock and they would be rare and require certain paths.

What do you think about this? Would you like to see 2D art in the game?

The 2D art would be both SFW and NSFW.

Please note, this would be EXTRA content. I'm not changing the game in any other way.

I love 2D, always, but it comes down to the quality and I am confident to say my standard is pretty high, so the one in the photo is not something I'd see in your wonderfully beautiful game.

Ota9Nipp0n

I enjoy 2D art but as far as the game goes i think i'd prefer focusing on 3D. If it was just a free hidden bonus thing that'd be dope but if it cuts into resources that could be put elsewhere in game dev then i'd rather it focus on other things

Aedin Belmont

I'm all in:) the creative genius behind your games leads me to believe your Awesome:)

Red T. Basco

I'd prefer 3D art Personally, Makes things more immersive and lifelike which really adds to the game.

I think 2D art could be cool I'm just not a fan of the style of art that was used in this post.

Cesar Rivera

If I went this route, I have a plan for how to use and display the art in the game. It's a long-term plan and it wouldn't replace any 3D art. It would be collectibles.

DrPinkCake

Not really my thing, either (relatively neutral - the art looks great, don't get me wrong it's a fantastic picture of Jill, but I think there are higher priorities). If you are going to do outsourcing or any kind of subcontracting / hiring out some work, I'd rather it be anything that could speed along development, or further improve the quality of the game by way of voice acting,+ lip syncing animations, etc.

bgray9054

2D art doesn't hurt though I prefer putting the resource in making more 3D art :P

Woody

if it's just 2D Art in general, I feel pretty neutral about it. But I think it's implied that this would be 2D Art in the DIK World (or is it BaD World?), so they might not be canon, but they would involve the characters we love. So would I like to hunt/find/stumble upon pics of my favorite girl in different art styles throughout the game. Yes, absolutely, I would love that. Even better if they weren't just *there* but they are part of the world, e.g. a mysteries artist on the campus leaves them around, or even hides them for us to find.

Troik

That's the beauty of the 2D art outsourcing, in my opinion. It doesn't add labor, only value (if it's perceived as value for the player).

DrPinkCake

The same artist who made the picture in this post is the one I would hire for this part of my project. But I'm absolutely interested in seeing 2D fanart by fans as well! You can submit your art in the art room on my Discord server. I can't promise that any of it would be added to the product, but if I get art that players enjoy, I would consider making some kind of showcase for it.

DrPinkCake

I only voted 'yes' because it wouldn't pile more labor on for DrPinkCake. I prefer the renders and I don't think I would enjoy the content, but if it's a way to increase the viewership and patronage I hope it works well.

John Masters

Or will you only be choosing specific artists/ hiring artists

CEO of Goth Girls

Would I be able to submit fanart ? :0 I want to draw Riona and Melissa (AL)

CEO of Goth Girls

could be an opportunity to have fan submissions in games <3

Cameron Michael

Gallery art sure, otherwise no

I abstain my vote here, as I am not one to hunt the renders so the same would go for 2D art. But I am not against it, if DPC thinks it fits.

Alexander Hochbaum

As long as it doesn't stray too much from your own style of art

Legs

their are enough lame games out there with cartoon 2d art leave it to them

Bruce

How do you feel about the current concept of Special renders? It's kind of the same thing, no? The series aren't necessarily canon to the story and they are often exaggerated.

DrPinkCake

I like all related art, for sure – but if it breaks context with what's happening in the game, is it rewarding? If a character is an artist in the game and there's plot around producing the risqué works of art, then there's an extra layer of eroticism around it and also character development and opportunity to use the art work in more ways than one.

trijste

Since it's outsourced it's not at the expense of anything. It does require me to write extra code, but that's about it and it would be done within a days work for the first time, for the times thereafter it's just like the Vault, a copy/paste operation of code.

DrPinkCake

I feel its a good idea. HOWEVER, if it makes updates slower, or comes at expense of other "rewards" then i feel it will make the overall game worse. If its not at the expense of anything else then it would be great to see, as fun rewards sounds good. Im also a fan of the art style in picture above.

Kokkosbolle

I'm a big fan of the various "mini-games" or gimmicks like the social media and tinder stuff, so if you could use the 2D art linked to those or other similar activities, I endorse the idea!

Don’t see why not, although I don’t tend to look for the special renders as I find it annoying ;)

Julian Harper

if it gives other artists a chance to shine and put their work out there i dont see why not? in fact that sounds like an awesome idea DPC!

More of the beautiful ladies of the DIK world? YES!

Jeff Sandau

As long as it not takes away any work or time from the main stuff.

Alexander

Me no like barbies cartooney

Love this idea

I like the idea, just don't go overboard with costs. :p

ToddlerfromHell

I love the idea :)

Dawe3DArts
