New video (& another update)

Hi everyone!

NEW VIDEO:

As some of you may have seen on Discord the the other day... I've been working on a new video for the last 3 weeks or so, about Clive 'N' Wrench, a 3D platformer that actually launched today!

As mentioned in the video, this genuinely was a game I was going to buy anyway and cover later on in the year but when the option of having a review copy came up... I figured I may as well take it!

I couldn't do early access for this one as I was aiming to publish the video pretty soon after the embargo period ended, which was at 10:30am this morning, and after some small adjustment to the video thumbnail I ended up publishing it at around 11:00am.

So hopefully you understand that, but to make up for it I'll lay out some of the ideas I currently have for future content on my channel.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Well... as is the case with me, nothing is ever set in stone because I never know how much time I can dedicate to all of this but...

If I'm able to... I'd like to start up on making another trilogy of videos to cover a series, much like I did during 2021/2022 with the Rayman games... and I've already hinted at which series in my Sonic Frontiers video with this shot below:

I purposely made it a "blink and you miss it" shot during that video... so much so that nobody's made a comment about it but yeah... I've been thinking about Pac-Man World lately.

The way I'd go about this is to very briefly discuss the original version of Pac-Man World before then making the bulk of the video be about Pac-Man World Re-PAC, and then making two videos about Pac-Man World 2 and 3 respectively.

As it stands right now, I've finished Re-PAC and have a fair amount of notes, and have been dipping in and out of playing World 2, making notes as I go along.

It's taking me a while as I have been juggling that with other projects, general day-job work and doing logo commissions for people but ideally I'd like to do what I've done with today's Clive 'N' Wrench video, and make them a little shorter, at around 20 mins each if possible.

But at the same time... I'm also just thinking about sticking to a few solo games, as it is nice to work on different things and move on to something new each time... for for these I'm thinking of things like:

But there's also a LOT of others on my shelf here just sat there waiting to be played so 'm not sure which of those I'll choose, or if I'll lean into the Pac-Man games after all... I'm just going with whatever interests me.

Suggestions are welcome by the way! Feel free to tell me of any games you think might be of interest to me :)

OTHER IDEAS:

As well as the content you'd expect from me with the reviews, I've been sitting on a couple of new ideas. I don't want to go into too much detail but one of these would be much more of a video essay sort of thing, where I'd turn my review format on its head.

So instead of talking about everything a single game does, I'd look into how multiple games do a similar idea differently and compare them. I don't have many of these ideas laid out... and to be honest it could only be the one... but there is a very specific game mechanic I've seen lots of games do that I'd love to take a deep dive into some day.

The other idea I've had could potentially involve using the YouTube Shorts feature to try out another series I've had in my head for over a year now. It'd basically be a way for me to highlight certain games in my collection here without needing to dedicate a full 20 minute video to them, and perhaps focusing more on my story behind the game. Like how I got it, or what spurred me into trying it out etc.

Again, I'm not sure when or if I'd do this but it's an idea I've had in my head for a while!

In the mean time I think using Shorts to upload teasers for my upcoming videos is a good idea, as I noticed those get a couple hundred views which if nothing else... helps remind people I'm still here seeing as I don't upload very often!

CHANNEL UPDATE / OLD VIDEOS:

A channel update really is something I really should think about doing soon... but I just don't like making them lol.

You may have noticed now that a lot of my older videos are hidden away for the time being and while I'm unsure if that's going to change any time soon... I'm understandably getting comments asking me what's happened so I'll probably address that at some point.

The brief version of it would that that this is kind of the next step after me shaking up my video format a couple of years ago, and an even bigger version of the mindset I had towards my failed Destroy All Humans series of videos being stuck between two video formats.

I've enjoyed the last two years of focusing purely on the review side of things, and that's kind-of what I want people to see if they happen to stumble across me on the internet... not my older skit focused stuff.

If my channel were significantly bigger and it was going to have a serious affect on my livelihood, this wouldn't have been an option but the fact is.... after 8-9 years of doing this I'm still a smaller YouTuber so I feel I can alter things from time to time.

SEE YOU NEXT TIME!

Thanks very much for your support. Sorry again for the lack of any substantial early access but for this video I'd like to think you'll all understand!

I'll be working on... something, but I don't know what just yet!

Feel free to message me if you have any suggestions for games for me to look at or just chat. I'm often on discord!

- Pete
