2025-01-30 00:59:09 +0000 UTCI've experienced sleep paralysis about three times and it was always terrifying. I felt like I was trapped in my body and there was no escape. Also found the idea of reconnecting with people from the past very relatable as I have done exactly that in recent weeks. I wish I had friends like qtcinderella to process these thoughts as it seems like she is concerned with these things more than anyone I currently know. It's very weird to identify with strangers on the internet, but it it can be cathartic.

As someone who has had a friend since 1st grade through now at 28, its pretty unique and i'm glad we've stayed friends so long. But we're friends because we still like the same stuff, if we didn't get along we wouldn't still be friends

I had a very unfortunate experience in high school where I discovered that all of my friends really didn’t care to hang out with me so I stopped hanging out with them. I went to college and made a lot of close friends, but we never kept in touch after. It was very much the same thing where our values just really didn’t align anymore, so after college when I was working in the professional world I pretty much just hung out with my parents. Which is fine, but I did get to a point where I really wish I had friends. My early 20s I actually went back to school but that’s not where I met my friends. I met them all at work. They were also going to school for other things; And some were about my age. we’re still friends to this day and we keep in touch with each other. I find myself still making some amazing girlfriends. I’ve come to realize it just has everything to do with asking them out, or asking if they want to grab dinner sometime. If you get along with someone at work and you’re talking, or just giggly together after a couple of months - see if they want to hang out, grab a drink after work. That’s honestly what led to a lot of the friendships I have today. I genuinely think it’s a problem that people just don’t keep in touch with each other, but usually when I find someone I really like that I try to keep in touch. if we haven’t seen each other in a couple of weeks or months I ask if they want to go get a drink. But I’ve also had some people fall off too. I only wanna hang out with people that want to hang out with me. If I notice I’m the only one putting in work after several months I stop reaching out to see if they ask to hang out with me. If they don’t then I know my answer. Not that I ban them from my life forever but I never want to fight for someone’s attention again. Got no time for that.

It was so cool to see the culmination of so much groundbreaking research and even though there’s still more to do it’s crazy that they’re at the point where those ideas are real life now rather than just crazy dreams.

I use an app to control my TV and it wasn't working so I was mashing buttons to see if anything would happen, the app for whatever reason connected to the living room TV which they were watching, to them it looked like the TV was freaking out and their first reaction was ghost

What happens is I feel like I am awake but can't move and I think about moving but feel imprisoned, then I always think about whether I can breathe and suddenly feel like I can't breathe. It's like my brain is not connected to my body yet. Usually can't even open my eyes. I desperately try to move my body and open my eyes and breathe but it all feels like it is being prevented by some force. I can feel myself trying to move, but just can't.

And while it is strange you experienced it at the same time, it's a pretty common thing to happen to people in general. It wouldn't be weird at all if not for the fact you guys experienced it at the same time. Still perfectly within the realm of coincidence.

(yes that's the official name) you shouldn't use q tips at all, instead you can pour a bit of hydrogen peroxide in your ears while laying on your side. it'll bubble and fizz for about a minute or two, then you can turn over the other way to dump it back out. After that if you take a shower and let the water go in your ears, it gets a lot out! if it gets really bad though, you don't need to find a specialist for it. chances are your primary care doctor has some way of cleaning it out - sometimes it's a fancy thing they hook up to the sink and sometimes its basically just a spray bottle with a special nozzle lol. you shouldn't stick ANYTHING in your ears and you shouldn't need to - having some ear wax is important and keeps your ear healthy and safe. i have to do this a lot because i get a lot of wax, but you really should only need to if it's particularly uncomfortable or getting on earbuds a ton or etc!

2024-10-16 20:10:31 +0000 UTCi’m an audiology grad student (almost an ear doctor) - you can go to an audiologist or ent to get earwax removed either with a scoop or water or you can try using the ear cleaning kits from walgreens or cvs. gna be totally honest and say that i still use qtips…. just clean the very outside of ur ear canal if ur gna use it like don’t go too deep or u can just shove the wax back and clog ur ears 😭
