I'm not saying they're above reproach, I probably have beef w them over some Mormon beliefs, I just don't think he's abusing her.

My comment won't post as a reply. I did see the video she posted as a reply to the article. I would say partially that her voiceovers always are scripted and monotone, so that's part of what I would credit for the gun-to-her-head vibe. I would also say that it's possible she was nervous to say the wrong thing because of how she was blindsided by the article's content. She just invited someone into her home and then they said pretty shit things about her life and her family and totally invalidated the very successful career that she does have as a farmer and influencer. Maybe Daniel does have a gun to her head, I just don't think there's nearly enough evidence to think that with any degree of certainty. (P.S. I deleted my original comment bc I panicked that my whole name was displayed, I still think what I said. I basically said that QT and Maya should follow up on this bc the audio from the interview day was released and the author was really dishonest in her reporting, the main thing that people latched on to from the audio is that Hannah says she danced for two years in Brazil after Juilliard, Daniel told her to keep doing it if she wanted to, she chose not to bc it was demanding, etc.)

Ph33bs

but did you see the video she posted with the audio saying how much she loves living there and how great Daniel is? it literally sounded like she had a gun to her head in my opinion.

The Times and New York Times are 2 different publications btw

The South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem published her memoirs earlier this year in which she details how she took her puppy out to the garden and shot it because it was being too aggressive. Seems to be a popular move to publish the culling of your own pets 💀

ItsSebhere

all of this reminded me of one tweet or post that was like 'A Gen-Z Amish kid named Skibidiah' 😭

Im ngl, Trad Wife Simulator would be a funny game/show

So that are the modern day, SHAYTARDS. LUL The Mormon Influencers have been a thing for a long time. And most have a scandal at some point that contradicts their "values" in some way. LUL I always feel bad for the children. having put their lives online.

On the topic of LDS influencers, there’s a great video by Alyssa Grenfell on YT about her theory of the LDS church funneling money to these influencers without them even knowing. I guess the CPMs for accounts covering mormon topics or even vaguely alluding to being mormon are off the charts. The theory is that they throw a ton of money into advertising on these accounts to basically to encourage their success and add to the church’s propaganda machine. Pretty wild considering just how many LDS influencers have success online showing their “idyllic” life.

I mean the article does seem really biased but even parsing through the bias and just looking at the events alone the wife definitely sacrificed a lot and isn't exactly living her dream. Maya is fully correct on her analysis in the end imo

Great ep. To be totally fair to Neeleman I think her reluctance to identify as a feminist online might be less to do with the men in her life and more to do with how messy any political affiliation online can be. If you don’t feel fully confident in how to articulate your brand of feminism and those beliefs, because they do vary heavily across countries, cultures and other demographics, she is probably fair to steer clear of publishing any content relevant to them. At the end of the day, she got herself into Juilliard to follow her career passion - so she probably does believe in the right for women to choose careers and/or something else. I hated the framing of this article, the writer seemed incredibly irresponsible to frame this like an abusive situation and then PUBLISH it - potentially putting Hannah in more danger. That to me did not feel very supportive of women.

Another interesting situation is Madison Prewett. Different denomination of Christianity, I think, with some very thought provoking views on gender roles. She was on The Bachelor and made it near the end (fascinating season), but a few years later ended up marrying into some billionaire family. She wrote some books and started a podcast about her religious views. The way she and her husband talk about each other and their relationship is wild, I've never heard anything like it before. There's some good clips/examples posted on r/thebachelor.

KT

she just posted a response to the article on her tiktok!

As an fellow Ex-Mormon the story certainly starts some alarm bells ringing. Sort of seems like a quintisential example of LDS gender roles and how they push women towards trad wifedom.

Kristi Noem, the current Governor of South Dakota. She was considered a top contender for Trump's VP prior to the story in her memoir of shooting her 1 year old farm dog after it attacked her neighbor's chicken coup. She thought it would make her look like the kind of person that's willing to do the right thing even when it hurts, but it just made her look like an absolute psycho!

Great ep. Only thing to add is i feel like "choice feminism" is IMO mostly wielded to by those who end up in roles under paternalistic husbands/family to "de-politicize" feminism as a whole. It's (unfortunately) a cudgel really

29:45 I guess maya never heard about that politician lady who killed her dog and talked about it in her book

Eluardo Ramirez

Chemistry at the end was off the charts. Skibidi toilet some would say.

They do cull aggressive dogs as well. In most places if a dog bites a kid And it's reported it's put down.

Female athletes who compete through pregnancy are built different. I used to train with Erin Dolan sometimes, she's a Team USA triathlete and my strong sport was her weak sport at the time, and I still remember her getting podium within a couple weeks of giving birth to her 3rd kid. Being aggressively in shape does help, and competitive athletes are already trained to min-max recovery, but it's still astonishingly impressive.
