Hey lovelies,
So I decided to do something different for the teaser WIP of the next chapter. I am going to post another of these after the title page is released showing the other half of the process. :)
Here are the steps:
1) Sketch - this stage is rough, everything is just sort of penciled in, details are missing, anatomy needs work.
2) Clean-up and ink - in this stage I ink the image, and then move things around, correct anatomy, decide on spacing, and then clean up the ink so it looks nice.
3) after the ink is all cleaned up I block in the figures in one color and then select that layer and paint over with all the base colors, this is often in many layers.
4) this is the base colors almost completely done.
5) I then compress the layers together, blend the colors and clean up any bleed overs, if I am shading this in my full digital style I do not compress the layers as I need them to get clean shading. In this image I will shade it in cell-shaded style so only one base color layer is needed.
6) I start a new layer for the shading, chose a dark color and turn the opacity down. then I start shading, this is one of the longest steps, lots of little detail work.
All of my cell-shading and inking are done free hand with a graphire4 wacom graphics tablet and the program I use for this and all my digital art is photoshop CS4.
Enjoy :)
